Official Spring Training Thread

Honestly, Elder is just fine for a team like this. He can be an innings eater with 4-4.5 ERA. I mean, with this offense that's a winning formula.

Elder’s value to the team is the ability to step in and give you reliable back end rotation production. With the volatility with Fried and Sale’s health, Charlie’s age, and Lopez’s reliever risk, that’s going to be very valuable for us. I expect he’ll throw 100 innings even if he starts out in AAA.

I wonder if Lopez was given up too early on starting. He was still pretty young when he was moved to reliever and he had not been terrible as a starter. Just wonder now he’s older and more seasoned, if he could be a nice surprise.

ST stats don't mean much, but it would be nice if Kelenic wasn't batting .048 with a .215 OPS considering the entire Braves offseason shook out the way it did due to his acquisition.

Agreed. Hopefully he’s saving his hard contact (or really any contact) for the regular season. Was a big fan of the Kelenic move. Really hope he works out.

Giles looking a little shakier today, but still spinning that slider.

Waddell made a great play on defense to bail him out. Has seemed like his SS defense is legit since I saw him in the AFL a couple years ago.

What hasn't been talked about much is Lopez.....dude is shoving this spring.

3IP today. 0H 1BB 4K

So far this spring he has 8 IP, 1 ER, 2 BB, 7 K. Has a WHIP of 0.63
