My count, as of Sunday, is only 35 men active on the 40-man roster.
But ... Whalen, Winkler, Paco, EOF, McKirahan, Biddle, Marksberry and AJP are still listed as being on 60-day DL.
I would say EOF, AJP definitely are gone and that McKirahan, Biddle and Marksberry are probably off.
Biddle is the real wild card. Like Fried, a top pick who never really had time to show his stuff.
A high No. 1 pick.
According to the transactions page on the MLB At Bat App, the following have been outrighted yesterday and today: Daniel Castro (Gwinnett), Matt Marksberry, (Mississippi), Andrew McKirahan (Mississippi).
So was Bradley and he's gone. And Bradley showed marked improvement in half a season with the Braves.
I have to believe that Weber, d'Arnaud, and Bonifacio may be on borrowed time. Maybe they want Hernandez to work with Hursh and Kelly before making final judgment on them. Too bad they can't unload Williams Perez. Maybe they misplaced the fork-lift.
Of the six guys on the 60-day DL, only four will likely be back: Biddle, Rodriguez, Whalen, and Winkler.
Anyone have a list of the guys not on the 40-man who have to be protected. Sims, Camargo, and Lien are the only ones that leap to mind. Of those, Sims is obviously the highest priority. Lien and Camargo could get picked in the Rule 5, but it would have to be an isolated situation. I like Camargo more than Lien, but American League teams have the luxury of carrying a specialist and both these guys have the potential to fit that bill.
I think I saw on Twitter that Fried also has to be protected this year.

Have to imagine we've seen the end of Weber as well - with Gant likely becoming a bullpen piece, Whalen possibly sticking as a starter in Gwinnett to begin the season, Paco/Biddle/Winkler being kept, and Sims and Fried being added we're going to run out of places for several of these guys pretty quickly - especially if we add a SP (or two) to the big club.
I think they'd like to keep Marksberry and McKirahan around, but they just may not have space for them either - particularly if Paco's healthy to start the season and they're aggressive with Minter.
Ozzie will be a new addition sometime next year as well that is not currently on the 40 man.

I think both Albies and Minter will be with the big club at some point next season, but by that time we'll either have guys on the 60-day DL or have a better idea of who is expendable or likely not to be claimed in a waiver situation.
I think they'd like to keep McKirahan and Marksberry in the organization, but we'll have to see if there is interest elsewhere.
