Offseason 40-man roster thread

I didn't realize Snyder's isoSLG was .413 this season. Feast or famine guy and it's a small sample, but he's got legit power. Curious to see where he ends up because guys like him tend to stick around and get the occasional recall.

Right now we are at 40 including guys on the 60-day DL. But that includes three guys who will become free agents--AJ, Bonifacio and EOF. In the case of AJ I believe he is retiring. So effectively we are at 37.

Sims and Fried will definitely be added. Which brings us up to 39. And if we add two pitchers and a catcher as is widely expected, we will have to move two off the current 40 man.

I think we are going to trade guys like Jenks and Willy for lottery type prospects as well. I think there is a large group of guys that just kind of hang out in the group that is not good enough to be contributors but not bad enough to just let go... I think we will select a few of that group to send to another team for lower level/non 40 man prospects.

I agree. I think we'll see a lot of moves made. Some will be included in packages to acquire major league ready talent, and some will be for lottery tickets.

Cuniff and Weber cut loose perhaps?

Jenkins, Gant, or Whalen as potential pieces in a deal for Mac possibly?

Leaves room to add Sims, Fried, Albies, Camargo and Dustin Peterson in the near future.

Now you see why I am reluctant to assume any more.

Baseball America reports in its transactions page that Reid Brignac, Matt Tuiososopo and Roberto Hernandez have all elected free agency.

Braves have re-signed Joel de la Cruz, Ronier Mustalier and Enderson Franco to minor league contracts. Injury plagued Tyler Brosius has been released.

Sam Freeman's signing was previously announced here somewhere.
