Encouraging news about Strider. Looks like he could be back by Late April-Early May if no set backs.

'Could be' is encouraging.. but I wonder if 'should be' is what we should be asking. I wouldn't think this would happen, but it would be awful to push someone to come back quicker to cover a need. Having Strider healthy in Aug/Sep/Oct is way more important that April-Early May..

If and it's a huge if, we have a healthy Strider and Acuna, we're right back in the mix for best team. If our team is healthy it's as good as any team in baseball. Acuna is an MVP candidate, Murphy is a top tier catcher, Olsen a top tier 1B, Albies one of the better 2B, Riley top tier 3B, Harris is a good CF. If our only holes are LF and SS that's not bad. Most teams have much bigger holes than that.

Pitching you have 2 Cy Young contenders in Sale and Strider, rest of the rotation, who knows. But also who cares? Like if you have 2 aces you can ride you can go far. You don't need a dominant 1-4. It's better of course but if you have an elite offense and great top end pitching that goes a long way towards a title.

I'm nervous about Sale staying healthy though. But fingers crossed he can be 80% of what he was last year at least.

I would imagine Strider shouldn't see a ton of control or velo drop.. But I would expect endurance to be an issue. not going deep into games and running a six man rotation would probably be good for all the injury risks on the staff..

Imagine a 6-man rotation of our current guys. Hello .500

I would hope we manage things similarly to last year and use a 6-man rotation as much as possible to keep guys healthy and effective. We'll find out real quick with this brutal start to the schedule (7 games straight @SD + @LAD).

It'll be interesting to see how they manage the AAA shuttle. Daysbel has options, but he's a key contributor now. One approach is to use the final spot on the 13-man pitching staff to cycle between re-tread RPs . . . goodness knows we have enough of them (Kuhl, Covey, Diekman, etc.). When they need a spot-start just 1) DFA re-tread A, 2) swap in one of the several AAA starters with options to make a single start, 3.) swap in re-tread B.

It’s meant to evoke that retro tropical flavor. It knows what it’s doing.

maybe I am too old to even know what 'retro tropical flavor' in regards to Braves means. But I am also pretty far down on the fashion leader board (way down, some might say).. I am pretty boring dresser. So that doesn't pull my purse strings like a simple Braves A with the tomahawk..
