Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

Man I’d love a to be a fan of a team that said “you got Soto? **** it, let’s get the top rest of what’s left “

The Padres are trying to cut payroll so they are trying to find creative ways to cut salary and improve at the same time.

Are they cutting payroll to put together a big offer for Sasaki?

Gray fits the Anthopoulos' pattern to some extent, but like Hudson2 said, the backloading of his contract is really ugly. Wonder how much of the contract the Cardinals would absorb and what they might want in return. Braves have a bevy of decent pitching prospects that may interest the Cardinals.

I dont think what they pay Sasaki even counts to the luxury tax. Its international pool money they spend every year. Sasaki will be making league minimum. What they pay toget him is capped at like 6 million.

So why are the Phillies shopping bohm? They gonna get bregman?

I also tink they're hoping to sell high on BOhm on an allstar season and hope teams will gamble on him because he crashed in the second half. Really he fell off after April though. On April 30th he had a 1.036 OPS

From then on he had a .713

reportedly want less high K guys in the lineup, which is much the same as what I want the Braves to do. A team full of sluggers will score a lot of runs but will also get shutdown a lot because they are all so similar.

Rosenthal says that preliminary Kyle Tucker trade talks between the Astros and Cubs involve both Isaac Paredes and Seiya Suzuki. Honestly, that would be one hell of a deal for the Astros for a single year of Tucker. They need a 1B and LFer, so it's perfect.

That does not compute. Paredes has little value and Suzuki negative value.

Neither are stars but both are 3-4 WAR players… that’s not “little value” and “negative value.” That’s two above average players.

It is also speculated the Astros would get prospects too… including they have talked about their 2024 first round pick.
