Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

I agree that a Crochet trade/extension is the move most in line with AA's typical strategy for acquiring impact players from outside the organization. I just hope it doesn't require Baldwin.

I think that’s probably our hold up on our end. Baldwin has to be kept but Crochet is only 25 so if he does get dealt that is the exact guy you use him for. I would be fine using both Waldrep and AJSS in a deal for Crochet if it meant no Baldwin.

Start of the season with Strider likely sometime before or at the all star break (wouldn't rush him back). I'd love Buehler to be our guy as he'd only cost $$$ where Crochet will cost prospects and $$$.

You would also have the ability to still add at LF and/or SS.

And not playing the field takes away a large chunk of his value. I don't want to sign up for a Trout situation and I don't want to see him leave for a draft pick. I feel like it's an inevitability the Mets sign him to a mega contract that will turn out very bad for them.

What? Dude was a bad defender in 2023 and still won MVP. Him not being a base running threat would have more impact on his value than him moving to DH.

Acuna on 2 rebuilt knees needs to concentrate on one thing, and one thing only: standing at the plate and posting a 1.000 OPS. I've said it over and over, but anything other than hitting is meaningless noise for Acuna's value now, and not worth the added injury risk.

Stand in RF as best he can, stop being bonehead Manny Jr on the bases, and go win a triple crown.

but you can't win any gold glove awards if you don't have at least 15 jumping catches

Soto bidding reaching 600M per Rosenthal. List of final teams not out yet. I'd say the list within the list is: the two NY teams, and Boston if we believe the rumors.

Lance Lynn had a decent innings eating season for STL last year. I'm not sure what he's like in the clubhouse, but he's in the BSOML down about 20# and looks like you may could expect a better season for the money than last year.

The future Las Vegas As just signed their biggest deal in franchise history.

$67 million for Luis Severino.

Heyman says he thinks Blue Jays and Dodgers have best odds for Soto.

But his gut says Yankees.
