I assume it is some sort of estimate based on average of all the teams expenses or something. I have no idea what formula fangraph uses.

what I find interesting is that it seems to imply that it affects the lux tax threshold which doesn't seem logical to me.

Fried is such a hard pitcher to nail. He is so up and down. He has basically had one great season and two pretty good seasons.. I think he is a solid MOR pitcher who can flash TOR occasionally. But I would never equate him as a TOR. It will be fascinating what dollars he does get. But 7 years seems risky for sure. I don't see him doing well as the Fastball starts to really decline.
