Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

it was more about his resume pre surgery than a handful of starts while he was coming back..

it is funny that everyone expects Strider to come back and knock dicks off hitters right out the gate but then calls a very good pitcher who just came back from a major surgery 'one of the worst' pitchers.. blah blah blah..

Strider will probably suck a lot next year.. be ready.. WB will probably be really good next year.. be ready. that is how major arm surgeries go usually.. it takes time (almost a full year) to get back to normal.. This is Strider's second major surgery as well. be ready...

Can you confirm we should be ready?

But there was also a noticable decline in his stuff/rates pre surgery in 2022.

are you talking about the season that he got hurt and probably pitched several starts with a partial tear or inflammation.. his arm slot dropped that year as well.. probably due to elbow discomfort. I wouldn't really base my argument on 65 innings of a season he went down with elbow blow out.

when you look that the Braves paid Mort the last 2 years 20 million at age 50 to plunk a bunch of lefty hitters.. I don't see how anyone would be afraid of 21 million for 1 year as a prove type deal. Like I said earlier.. or in my head maybe.. I would have been ok with 23 million personally. prices are expensive.. either adapt to the market or dumpster dive for left overs.

We should be happy with the team we have.

94.5 wins is the line on DraftKings as of now.

Nobody is beating the Dodgers anyway, who are at 102.5 and not done adding.

But that was his second Tommy John surgery, and there is no guarantee he will recover to the point he was previously. For me personally, just too risky to spend $21 million on. I'd prefer a more known quantity as an alternative.

Understand that Buehler got injured in 2022, made 1 minor league start in 2023 and then made his own decision to delay his start to the 2024 season. He physically was cleared to return in 2023.

What does a betting line mean 6 weeks out from ST when a team has only subtracted and added absolutely nothing of note?

The homer in me says the new AA brilliant move is going to be doing nothing. AJSS is going to breakout and fans will be split as to if AJSS or Schwellenbach is better. Waldrop replaced Jimenez and is so good we wonder if we even need to resign Iglesias or of we are better with Waldrop on a setup role. Nacho Alvarez will be that change of pace hitter in the lineup contrasting all the sluggers and he has a BABIP fueled high batting average/OBP and defense while playing......... LF.....except for those few weeks he filled in for Ozzie at 2B. Thus making him a popular trade chip going into the next off-season as he is more valuable playing 2B than LF and we already have a 2B. And people will still doubt AA next off-season. Let the man cook...

AA may have a few trade offers out there and he’s just waiting on the other team to field other offers and get back to him.
