Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

I remember thinking that Frank Wren was pretty open in comparison to Schuerholz, but I'd be hard-pressed to cite anything specific to justify that belief.

And look where that got him.

Every off-season is like musical chairs and some years, you are left standing. I obviously don't know anything about any internal discussions that may be taking place, but the Braves are a bit stuck in that they only have a couple of prospects that other teams would express a keen interest in (they have a lot of B-level prospects) and it seemingly appears they don't want to break the bank. I don't think there's anything wrong with assuming the offense will come back some, if not to 2023 levels. The only real criticism I have is that Anthopoulos appears to be stubborn to the point he wants to prove the Kelenic move was the right one.

So still hoping AA hits up Minny for a one stop shop and grab a few pieces. And then spend some money and get Scott in the pen. Then we just pray Ronnie and Strider can come back somewhat normal.

Everybody is asking for Baldwin I'm sure and AA is not gonna trade him. We'd probably have Crochet right now if he were.

As frustrating as this offseason has been, even with all the moves made by the Dodgers and Mets, the Braves still rank as follows in terms of projected WAR:

Overall: #3 (Dodgers ahead 51.7 to 48.4)
C: #11
1B: #6
2B: #10
SS: #26
3B: #3
LF: #29
CF: #2
RF: #4 (assuming Ronald posts 539 PAs with an .891 OPS seems to ignore his other season returning from knee surgery)
DH: #6
SP: #3 (this includes only 110 IP from Strider)
RP: #9

Adding another impact arm to the BP, a decent 3/4 to the rotation, and an actual MLB player to LF gets the Braves very close to the best team in baseball on paper. Options to do just that still exist, so there's no reason to doubt the Braves are still one of the elite teams in the sport.

We know AA learned in the Dodgers front office for a few years, and as the model organization, they keep things pretty close to the vest over there too.

Jeff Hoffman gets 3/33 from the Blue Jays. They say he’ll pitch in their bullpen. I would’ve done that.
