Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

Blue Jays are in talks with Sasaki and just brought in Hoffman, but somehow they are gonna trade away their best hitter because.... reasons.

Wait...I feel like I've seen this story play out before...

Alonso is going to try to get more money out of the Mets, but they instead trade for Guerrero and extend him. Alonso then has to sign in SF for less than he was offered by the Mets. Alonso cries when he plays his first game back in NY, and fires his agent that same weekend.

If they dont think they can sign him, i dont think it's the worst idea to move him for a haul.

That's not really the point. Unless they plan on signing Alonso, it doesn't make much sense to trade Vlad with the other moves they have made/are trying to make.

Remember earlier in this very thread when someone made fun of AI sports headlines on the web? That’s what SJ24 fell for.

Actually it was Andy Martino and then Mike Rodriguez and Hector Gomez.

I don't know whether it is true or not but they are reporters.

It's funny the the second-tier signings (Gil, Lara, Fuentes) have looked better than the top-tier guys. Perdomo was hurt, so he gets a mulligan. Guanipa has done alright. Tavarez, Benitez, and Glod haven't looked good at all (at least with the bat).

Benitez and Glod..just yuck. Remember Derian Cruz and Christian Pache? Pache has sniffed the major and at times looked very good. He was a worker in the minors. Cruz..not so much. Lazy..didn't give a damn. Benitez and Glod have had scouts buzzing since they were 13. I say all that to say...they are trying but swinging to get off the island doesn't apply now. Our instructs at the rookie level leaves a lot to be desired.

I don't know who else has watched Tavarez, but this kid is one I'm going to defend. He's looked great in 7 game stretches and clueless in 10 game stretches. His time is running out, but the way he plays ss is what you'd all love. He can pick it. I know. Doesn't matter if he can't hit.

The Braves were right to sign these guys. Just hasn't translated to much. I agree the less heralded signings are where the Braves excel. The Reyes kid may have his arm fall off by the age of 17...but over a summer he became a man. He looks 21. Scandal incoming..ugh. Lol.

Last note : Guanipa/Perdomo. Guanipa is smart and a worker. He's squat but when I saw him his swing was quick..in the zone and direct. He's got a real chance. Perdomo...I'm excited about. Advanced. Those hammys are no joke and they were overly cautious, but he like Men's Warehouse...you're gonna like the way he looks. (I know..that stinks..but....)

Heyman apparently mentioned us as a possibility for Santander today.

I really don’t think I’m interested in giving up our second rounder and the bonus pool money with it for him. But it would definitely make the offense even more fun.

Sasaki still holding things up. He's had a month to figure out where he wants to go. Just choose a damn place already.
