Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

Outside of Blake Snell, not a single move the Dodgers have made this offseason should have been cost-prohibitive to the Braves or any other serious contender. Especially not a for a team that is rolling in the dough from The Battery and is in effect a regional team with fans all over the country.

Scott took less to go to LA

It actually seems to be a league wide issue... No team outside the dodger$ are getting FA at this point. I am with State.. I hope the owners lock out until the PA agrees to a floor and cap.

Me too. The sport is getting really lopsided to where over the half the teams will never be able to compete. Something has to be done.

We better enjoy the next 2 years, cuz a lockout in 27 is happening. But a top 5 bullpen of Kopech, Scott, Yates, Treiinen and Phillips is crazy. Plus the other guys they have.

They need to just give the players a fair deal much like the NFl guarantees players a certain percentage of the revenue. Then tell the players who don't like it they can retire if they don't like it. In 10 years few if any of those players would even still be playing.

With the RP market moving quickly now, I'm curious about a possible match between the Braves and David Robertson. Really solid numbers the past couple years, though you have to figure in some decline in his age 40 season. Who knows what he's looking for in a prospective team, but he's from the Southeast (Alabama). The FG contract guess is 1 year / $10m, which seems to be within the Braves' go-zone on both fronts.

Precisely. I am loving it.

They have now signed in a single offseason:

a multi-time Cy Young winner

the best Japanese pitcher

the best posted Korean position player

the best closer

the 2nd best closer

Michael Conforto

And have resigned Blake Treinen, Teoscar Hernandez, and given Tommy Edman a 74 million dollar extension.

I think this beats the 2009 Yankees offseason.

The slander they'll get if they dont win the WS would be crazy.

Lockout and/or cap in 27 is 100 percent happening. Owners dont like this at all.

Then cross him off. AA never wins

I’m sure AA’s trying, but he’s pretty risk-averse when it comes to the free-agent market, and the trade market is drier than my 88-year-old Nana. I honestly think we’ll either land a starting pitcher on a short-term, high-AAV 'prove-it' deal, or pull off a home run trade - maybe both. Guys like Profar, with all the questions surrounding him, will likely get paid, but AA won’t take that kind of risk with a high chance of failure.

Yeah, if 1-year 5 million is trying

Soler is looking better and better right now.

He was atrocious in LF, I get it, but I can't fathom how stupid AA feels about that. The lineup looks incredibly strong if he's still here. Now we're scrambling because we created a hole for no damn reason.

AA could trade for Cease, sign Grichuk to be the 4th OFer, and grab a decent FA BP arm.

The options are dwindling, but there are still moves that could be made to fill the holes on this roster.

It really helps the payroll situation when the biggest world-wide star is being paid $2M while allowing the team to rake in unprecedented revenue off his image.
