Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

wow.. that is a lot more than I thought... I was being more tongue and check.. hmm..

So 4 including this one. The Padres would value that since they seem to be cutting payroll. AA thinks outside of the box a lot so I could see him doing something like that.

It takes two to tango, but I’d prefer Pablo López to Dylan Cease, all things considered. The López+Correa pipe-dream probably dies with this Profar signing, though.

Profar has virtually no career platoon split as a switch hitter so it will be very interesting to see what the Braves do if Kelenic gets off to a strong start in the 4-6 weeks Acuña is out to start the season. Obviously we’re not paying Profar $42M to platoon.

Grade C move considering that contract.

Now we hope he maintains his 2024 EV.

Grade C is interesting call.. I would give it a B.. doesn't help the OF defense, but 42 million over 3 years is not horrible contract to eat if he reverts back to a ~1 win player. upside that his offensive profile from last year is real to make this a steal..

From MLBTR:

Kelenic does have an option remaining, so some time in the minors is possible as well.

An optioning to AAA probably doesn’t happen if Kelenic really mashes out of the gate, but his reaching his ceiling is looking less likely after 2024. If he’s better in 2025, but not substantially so, I could see the team sending him to Gwinnett after Acuña returns.
