Offseason Hot Stove 2024-25 Thread

I didn’t think Schwelly came from nowhere at all. He had a lot of positive pub on here from Deester and etc. Maybe I am confused however-

That said - we do have a few possible breakthroughs - It’s always exciting to see what’s coming next !!

Love to see Deets project who he thinks is the first one to get a “first start call-up” with the chance to stick!

He wasn't a highly rated prospect and nobody could have expected to pitch like he did.

Thanks Hula..I think you and 50 are the only ones who notice..lol. But seriously...I'm ramping up even more this year. Already got a crew going to Rome and Augusta I met while picking up adult beverages. I have a few prospects in anxious to write about.

Cade Kuehler - easy mid 90's FB. That high leg kick tho...

Jhancarlos Lara - screams reliever, but 2 very good pitches

Herrick Hernandez - knows how to pitch.)I hate that term sometimes - but I get it) passable FB, good slider..

Cam Caminiti - easy one. Love his projection

Carter Holton - another bullpen candidate if things don't break right. Passable FB..height and injuries. Still like him enough

Hackenburg is easy to dream on..I like his pedigree. His stuff. But I'm more cautionary on him than others. He has a good chance though.

I mean he came out of nowhere in terms of making a big impact that season. There was speculation we could see him late in the year but even that seemed aggressive and we thought he might come up and be used as a reliever. Even the ever optimistic thethe wasnt predicting him to come up in June and be a stud almost instantly.
 
I haven’t been this excited about our young pitchers since we had Newk and Gohara and Soroka and Folty all coming along….. 🤣

I wonder if a reliever will come up and impress us this year. I am excited to watch Baldwin.. he fits that around 3rd round pick mold that Strider/Harris/Schwelly came from.. and wasn't hyped right away but jumped up to #5 prospect by end of last year.

I didn't love the pick to begin with but clearly he has justified it. It's good to change an opinion sometimes.

I'd say some places thought he was a bigger prospect than others.
