One thing about G-Dub.

We had 10+ embassy attacks under Dubya after 9/11.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

I was just saying that traditionally a Republican is much pro military than someone on the left side. Being in the army I noticed a difference between the two. Some things were subtle, but still effected tons of service members.

Being "pro-military" doesn't necessarily mean better.

Just because Republicans suck up to the military because it's a huge voting block, doesn't mean it's the right call.

Of course the raises and such were happening under Bush because were were in the middle of 2 wars at the same time. Now that we're winding down on Afghanistan and have pretty much gotten out of Iraq mostly, they have to cut back.

Republicans are pro-military industrial complex, not pro-military. They've already filibustered several veterans benefits bills in the last 5 years. As Bernie Sanders says... if you can't afford to take care of your veterans, then don't go to war.

LMAO at saying those that are more willing to start wars and send the troops to die are "pro military." Just wow. Sadly I'm not surprised by this logic from that side. I guess they up the pay to make up for the lives lost? Worth it!

Worrying about "looking like a pussy" is a small-minded and insecure. You worry about the well-being of the country. I get wanting to kill Osama. I don't get being there for as long as we were, or the Iraq war period. I guess we should've started war with Russia so they know how tough we are. I know at least one person here was advocating there. Yeah, screw the lives of the troops. We have manliness to prove!

You don't have to flex if you know you've got it.

Join the military or shut up.

Nobody forced anyone to join the military. Moreover at a time of war and would end up being two wars. I knew what I was getting into and knew the outcome of me being killed was very real. So did the rest of the people.

my favorite cousin died under his watch. I won't hate him, but Cheney I do because he was the one that sent him to a senseless death.

I hate Cheney with everything in my body.

Some people join the military because there aren't many options financially at home to look forward to.

Some joined because they thought they were fighting for a noble cause, but it turns out Iraq was a huge waste, and we've been stuck in Afghanistan for 15 years with no plausible victory.

That's not to discredit the troops, they're just doing what they're told. We're arguing what they were told was far from the truth, and many of your comrades have died in vein because of politics and fear.

So because no one forced them to join, it's cool to send them places to potentially die when we don't need to? Brilliant. It's this kind of disregard for the lives of others that is baffling, scary, and embarrassing. All apt adjectives for the right. Shocking.

Look I get why people don't like him and how he messed up. It's well deserved. But just put those things aside in this thread if you will be so kind. Maybe we can just discuss the subject of this thread since we all know what Bush was now as a President.

So here it is:

Imo, he delivered one of the best modern day speeches in relative modern history when he delivered his famous bullhorn speech at the fallen towers. The lines he delivered on the cuff were exactly what the country needed to hear at the time and the delivery was perfection. And it was clearly off the cuff. I still get chills listening to it. What are some others thoughts not of G-Dub in particular, but this particular speech?

Agreed.

Right, the alcohol that's rampant is MUCH better. Because everyone loves an alcoholic amirite?
And you still display retarded logic. Par for course.

You fit the bill as a lefty very well. Insults and poor attempts at sarcasm because you have nothing important to say.

Yeah or he could have sat back like like a typical pussified Democrat and let our country get attacked.

weird, what democrat was in office that was being a pussy and ignoring memos about an attack that was coming when 9/11/01 happened?

he loved them so much he sent more of them to die in Iraq than the amount of people that died on 9/11

And what would you have done? The country completely supported the invasions, even after the falsities of the WMD claims in Iraq were exposed. Blame the strategy, the generals, etc.
