OT: Absolutely Hilarious...

If you're asking whether it really matters that, for example, Bob Nightengale had the Gattis trade before anyone else when we'd know officially a few hours later, then sure, that's a fair point. Still, reporters clearly think it matters, and I don't think DOB and Bowman are opting out of the scoop race due to deeply considered philosophical objections.

And the other point is simply that DOB and Bowman don't add much value for fans. I don't much value Rosenthal's analysis, but he does provide some inside information and he seems like a decent sort, so I find him useful. Most analysts don't break news, but they enhance my understanding of the game, so I find them useful. Joe Posnanski isn't a reporter and his analysis is rarely original, but his writing is exceptional, so I find him useful.

What do DOB and Bowman add to the equation? Forget breaking news if you don't care about it. Do they perform high-level analysis? Are they writing deeply reported feature stories that bring a tear to your eye?

I definitely do not care about minute by minute reporting except for actual games. I'm only checking in a few times a day so I'm willing to wait a few hours for DOB or whoever. I'm also not that interested in a lot of the stat analyses that so many love to endlessly debate. It seems like a waste of time to me when at the end of the day Fredi is gonna make out the lineup how he wants to. Same goes for the front office on trades. I have a lot of interest in WHY the Braves make the moves they make but not much patience for arguments that other moves would've been better. Seems like DOB gets pretty close to conveying that but I'm open to other sources if they are out there.
