Overlooked prospect...

Playing the Waiting Game
Are we overlooking a potential third baseman, at least until Riley/Demeritte and possibly Ruiz show they're ready...

I happened to be looking at Mississippi's roster and some stats and noticed the year Carlos Franco is having. He's slashing .277/.336/.518/.854 and while he's hasn't always put up a flashy batting average, his OBP has always been pretty good relative to what his average is during that particular year. I remember when we signed him there were some good things said about his potential and I even thing he was inside our Top 15 prospects in 2013. Is he someone we could look to platoon with Garcia or even become the everyday guy?

He passes the eye test...graceful and athletic and has a nice quick swing...but has never really put it together

Franco, Demeritte, and Riley all looking promising. No superstar looks but Riley has really shorted up his swing and is slightly more slelective.

That was the book on him early in his career. I can remember Shanks saying that the minor league staff felt Franco had "the look." Never seemed to put it together. It's very rare that it falls together for someone at Franco's age and experience, but it has happened so it can't be totally dismissed. Curious to see if he's promoted at some point.

Most players his age and track record have been released. I'm guessing someone in the system "sees" some of the same things we do.

Franco should just come up... he can't be worse than Adonis... surely someone will give us a case of dr. pepper for Adonis now that he's not batting under .200 right?
