Ozuna arrested on DUI charges?

Bowden said if he were in charge he’d sue for damages and get the contract voided in court.

I know that may not be possible but there needs to be language in all contracts for stuff like this.

Sure. I am fine with that explanation

But that’s different that the assertion the Braves still extracted value out of the Olivera contract, therefore, they can do the same with Ozuna. The best they can hope for is find a contract with different accounting so they can spread the money outlay out differently.

Edit: Ozuna’s contract expiring two years with a lower luxury tax number (because the Braves backloaded the contract) isn’t terrible. It lines up perfectly with Fried’s free agency when they’ll either need to sign him or a different FA pitcher.

I don’t think it’s the DUI that has the Braves pissed off. I think it’s the fact he outs until 4 AM clubbing in the midst of a huge slump and benching (and yes I understand he’s probably not the only guy on the team that does this, but he’s the only guy on the team with his circumstances).

Braves should also be extra cautious about the type of veteran latin influences to surround Ronald.

Eating over 28 million seems like a tough sell to ownership. With the dui, it seems like it would make it easier

McGurik is the one writing the checks but it’s not his money. Otherwise I would agree with you.
I think AA has the influence to make this decision if he wants to. Personally I think you keep Ozuna around for the rest of the year. And dump him in the off-season when you can replace his roster spot.

The Braves have internal options to replace his roster spot. There are too many more useful players in need of roster spots as it is.
 
Once the 10-day period is up, you can recall Tromp, which allows for more chances to have TDA and Contreras in the same lineup and not have to worry about an injury at catcher.
