Parkland School Shooting

"we gun owners "
?

kinda like " my people"
...............................

I met a person 2 years ago who's kid was at Sandy Hook. Not in the class room but in the school.
She went 2 hours not knowing who was and wasn't coming home

That is the world you advocate for ? - where some abstraction of freedom or personal responsibility trumps (small t) common decency.

Back to what SAV was saying earlier about messengers

In the world where you are conflating that our current gun ownership freedom is the primary/secondary/tertiary/etc.. reason these shootings are happening or even that stricter gun laws would prevent this type of shooting....

stricter laws directed towards the source will.

the lesson of Watergate ?
Follow the money

When I was younger everyone smoked.
I was thinking today, waling down the street, no one was smoking.
There were no public ashtrays.

People still do smoke though

what sort of legislation ?

I am curious what you would vote for

I don't have an answer. I'm torn on the handgun debate. I see both sides of the argument. I currently do not own a handgun, though that isn't to say I wouldn't. I own a shotgun for hunting and home protection. I guess it would depend on the legistation proposed. I'm all for extendsive background checks, but so many fall through the cracks.

I for one don't want kids ( mine or yours ) to grow up in a country that requires on site armed police.

Feel certain posters that have children agree

I wish it weren't required either. But I would safer in the current climate if this were to happen.

and who fights those "extensive background checks " you seem to support ?

Reading your posts and gauging your political leanings you seem to favor candidate that oppose your view.

Do you have children ?

Your false equivalence is part of the problem.

One side does want to try measures to reduce gun violence.

The other side offers nothing else in return

Step 1: mass shooting

Step 2: casualties…

More kids died have again died in one shooting

than all the cases of in-person voter fraud

in tens of millions of votes cast,

and the GOP's response is we should do nothing about it.

I'm just saying that if you can demand photo ID

from 100+ million

people to solve a problem that doesn't exist,

maybe we can do something about a crisis that only happens in America.

"We shouldn't jump to conlusions that gun control laws would have prevented Florida school shooting." -- @marcorubio,

who is supposed to protect Floridians, but, instead,

took (in 2016 alone) $194,023.82 from the #NRA for every

child
killed today in Florida

What does that mean.

What does that look like

How does that stop this shooting

You keep demanding specifics but never offer any of your own

I don't vote Republican or Democrat. I tend up sway more conservative, but I'm probably considered a liberal for the area I live in.

Just like everything else with the progressives there is no actual policy. It's emotional buzzwords meant to feed on the weak.

To be fair - it isn’t the job of the citizenry to forge policy. We elect politicians and trust them to develop policy that promotes the desires of the people.

It’s totally reasonable to demand stricter gun control without having a PhD level understanding of the unintended consequences. Ideally, we should all strive to be policy experts, but this isn’t reasonable.

I would love both democratic and Republicans policy makers to each offer their own policy solutions to counter this growing pandemic. Too bad we will all get locked in a weird stalemate where each side argues ideologies based on a 200 year old amendment and the value of prayer.

It’s embarassing... on both sides.
