I think it's so telling that that NRA has gotten more bad press than the shooter himself.

I also think it's telling that 57, per his usual self, sat out the data conversation.

Most agreed. I hope this trend continues. It seems like the more independent media sources have really embraced turning the spotlight off the killers.

On a related note, just read In Cold Blood for the first time. Excellent, excellent book.

Interesting story, will be curious to see how litigation plays out. She says she was canned for the conceal permit but there are allegations that a friend of her threatened a coworker with a gun that also played a part in it. From an article I read:

"Durham said Friday she received a document explaining her termination, with the reasons including performance issues during her six months with the office. Other reasons, by her account, were being arrogant, not paying attention during training, attendance and not being properly dressed. None of those claims were founded, she said."

What the truth actually is, I don't know. I will be interested to find out though. I am typically on the side of the employee but multiple complaints to HR in your first six months while in a probationary period leads me to believe there's either A) a lot going wrong with that department or B) that woman isn't the best employee. We'll see though it wouldn't surprise me if she heard what she wanted to hear and the lawsuit gets dismissed.
 
Surprised we haven't heard any comments of Obamas policies making it easier for people like Cruz to buy a gun. Almost ad if it was a plan...

Er, so what you're saying is that if Indiana had stricter gun-control laws, it wouldn't lead to fewer guns originating there being used in Chicago homicides?

I'm following. Shapiro is saying that the ****ty rate of gun homicides in Indiana being less than that of Chicago amounts to some kind of epic burn on someone making the factually-unassailable point that most gun homicides in Chicago are committed with firearms purchased in other states with laxer gun regs. You're unwilling to say that bringing regs up across the board wouldn't move the needle. I am puzzled as to why you think the guy making the facile and irrelevant point is the crusader for truth here.
