Peaceful protesters being arrested...

I will give it a look later, honestly dont know the results before I look it up. Crime rate is probably going to be tricky, probably going to have to look more specifically at violent crime. I am technically commiting a crime as I smoke blunts right now so just general crime seems like a bad metric. Population growth I expect to find heavily in favor of Democrat cities outside of Detroit. Welfare benefits is a clever poison pill, are we considering corporate welfare as well as welfare to the general public?

Yes to violent crime.

And no to corporate welfare. Only looking at way of life for ciizens

I'll kick things off by observing that Atlanta's population has grown by 21% since 2010. Rest of Georgia by 9%.

Moreover, many of the people who have moved to the fast growing suburbs of Atlanta work in the city.

So in terms of acting as an economic and cultural magnet, it is hard not to conclude that Atlanta is a much more dynamic place than the rest of Georgia. Blue dot in a sea of red.

House price index for the Atlanta MSA has gone up 78% in the past ten years. House price index for Georgia as a whole up 40%.

I'll leave it to others to repeat the exercise for Houston, Dallas, Charlotte, etc.

Certainly NY City and its suburbs are far more dynamic than Upstate NY. Ditto Boston relative to the rest of Massachusetts.

Not all cities are doing well. But by and large Americans have been moving from rural areas for a very long time. The reasons are both economic and social. Those rural areas (for the most part very red in their political alignment) have a whole other set of dysfunctions and problems.

The NFAC(Not ****ing Around Coalition) is doing an armed protest in Louisville today to demand justice for Breonna Taylor. Expected to draw 5000 people. For some reason I think cops will not be brutalizing these people today. Wonder what that reason is. This wouldnt be an issue if her family could hire their own private attorney to prosecute the case if the state refuses to enforce the law. If the grand jury believes charges should be brought then so be it, its the same evidence standard we all live by. Then if there is no conviction no one can blame the DA or the police and the family can be satisfied the prosecution was legit.
