no, people don't live in the shire. it is still an active movie set since the Hobbit can still do reshoots for the movies coming out. it is on a farm.

I would imagine that you would still need a substantial sum of money to travel as much as you do.

Cheaper than you think. The key is to buy tickets in other countries. Go to china first then buy a ticket to korea kr New Zealand

I am by no means an extravagent person but I would think that just airfare and humble lodging would be very expensive. I hope I'm wrong. I'm at the point in my life where I can actually travel.
