Pitching prospects ending well

No matter how many trades get done, I can forsee one year becoming a Rule V feeding frenzy of our pitching.

I think you are absolutely correct. I think the organization has to make a decision on these pitching prospects in AA. As soon as they feel they are ready for promotion from AA, they probably need to decide if they are going to keep or trade them. I know that is early and timing during the year makes a difference, but there is about to be a glut of good prospects in AAA, tested in ATL, and at AA.

Either way, I know we have had a ton of lower ceiling type pitchers debut this year. It will be VERY fun from here on out (even with possible Sept. call ups)....there will be more than a few high ceiling pitchers every year for the next three years (at least). That doesn't even count next year's draft. Should be pretty dang fun from here on out.

I am not sure I give a lot of stock in finishing out the season strong as an indicator of following year performance, but I do like to see prospects get it as the year goes on. Sometimes it just clicks. I have enjoyed watching the results of key pitching prospects especially. I decided to take a look at how they are finishing. I was amazed by the stats of our pitching prospects last 6 games (roughly month).

In Mississippi, they were as follows:

Max Povse.........ERA 2.03...40.0 IP.... 2 HR...8 BB...27 K

Lucas Sims........ERA 1.84... 34.2 IP... 2 HR... 22 BB... 30 K

Sean Newcome..ERA 2.37... 34.2 IP... 0 HR... 16 BB... 40 K

Michael Mader....ERA 1.99... 36.1 IP... 1 HR... 9 BB... 30 K (3 of the games were not with us)

If that doesn't excite about future pitchers in the braves organization having 1-2 come from that bunch, then lets go deeper. Rome were as follows:

Touki..................ERA 2.43... 33.4 IP... 5 HR... 15 BB... 37 K

Mike Soroka........ERA 2.62... 34.3 IP... 1 HR... 10 BB... 33 K

Patrick Weigel......ERA 1.26... 35.6 IP... 1 HR... 15 BB... 43 K

Max Fried............ERA 2.89... 28.0 IP... 5 HR... 8 BB... 32 K

Kolby Allard.........ERA 2.43... 37.1 IP... 2 HR... 11 BB... 37 K

Richardo Sanchez.ERA 2.18... 33.1 IP... 3 HR... 14 BB... 29 K

That is 11 prospects that could be ready within the next 2-3 years that have sub 3 ERAs, all roughly 9K/9 rates. I am getting excited about the coming season(s) watch.

That IS impressive. Thanks for putting that together.
