You act like he’s made a ton of big free agent deals. Donaldson was great last year. DK was decent for 75% of a season. Hamels was a complete miss. Am I missing anyone else?

Ozzie and Acuna deals. I know those aren’t FA. But those deals impact our ability to sign them.
And maybe these one years deals for big bats are successful because of the talent around these guys incoming. I have no doubt Ozuna has more RBIs because of guys in front of him. I have no doubt he got better pitches to hit because guys on base.
Not taking everything away from him. He was a stud. But he benefited from us as well.

Believe it’s related to a nagging injury like bravesfan said. Management didn’t seem confident he would be back for a second round series either.
This is pretty much his second season he missed the majority of due to the calf
I’d say that labels it a chronic injury and makes that contract go from a fair deal to pretty bad.
We caught a break the season he played with us.
If he’s healthy he is worth it but at this point you can’t count on him.

I feel like we managed his health last season really well. They fit in rest days for him through out the season to make sure his legs stayed strong.

I was very worried about the calf last year, but we somehow got super lucky. Sorta hard to judge this season compared to the time missed prior to joining ATL due to how short it is.
