Police shot in Baton Rouge

Here's what's going to happen... in order to add additional security, police will be given more weaponry and become more militarized. They will be given more rope to be violent and this will continue to get worse. I also fear marshal law will be used as a weapon.

Nothing will change until the war on drugs is ended

According to this Caleb Paul guy on Facebook whose brother is on the force, hospital has said five officers now dead. He also said there was a shooting at another mall in the area.

I too fear that, not unlike the recent coup in Turkey, the result of this violence will only be that the institution protested only grows more autocratic in response.

On the flip side, I fear that cops will become less and less willing to patrol high crime and mostly black neighborhoods for legitimate fears of their own safety, and the bodies of young black men will pile up higher than they already are.

I think Obama is doing no favors to police at all in this country. When you're constant discussing the racism in the country, it's giving the appearance that justice is due.

And I think people are acting on that. It's quite unfortunate. But it will only get worse. As these situations always end up with more power given to the state and less to the people, creating further oppression

Obama is not the person to blame. I think what many dont understand is that some blacks are sick and tired!!! If white america and the laws of this nation do not listen and respect black lives than we must fight through any means necessary. I do not believe in violence against any human being including cops but people are getting restless. We need better laws, policing, and economic opportunities.

Blaming things on Obama is not right. It is the spread of social media that is helping to call attention to the injustices facing minorities throughout America. Unfortunately the police are the overall target due to being the face of white supremacy in America. Real change can happen if we have better police forces who actually have members who live and are from the community they are serving. This incident today is terrible but I see more of this happening unfortunately.
