Political Correctness

I am a daily listener to the Tony Kornheiser podcast... Everyone on there is extremely liberal (but pretty reasonable)...

Yesterday, they had Republican senator Tom Cotton on the show. They spoke very little about politics, but more about Cotton's life in the military and how he got into service.

Before the podcast was released, they tweeted that Cotton would be a guest on the show.

On today's show, they discussed how there was UPROAR before the show was even dropped - with tons of people emailing and tweeting saying they will absolutely not listen to the show, etc.

Tony - who is a huge Obama supporter - is baffled on today's show that people behave like that. Making up their minds without even listening. And essentially saying both sides are basically echo chambers.

It's truly sad how polarized people are... but to not listen to a show you love because of a guest that is a republican? Seriously?

Now - they have no reason to ever bring back anyone from the right

I agree with you. I detest Tom Cotton, I think he's a gigantic pile of you know what, but I'd never not listen to (or watch) a show he was on. That is how extremists (be they left or right) think. The far left can be that way on many things such as abortion and the right can be that way too. The Bill Maher "New Rules" episode you posted the other day was fantastic, but I wonder how many on the far right simply won't listen to/watch it because of their feelings about Maher? Same thing with Jon Stewart back when he did his show. I guess "Partisans gonna Partisan".

Here's a shock... after the tolerant left demanded Uber CEO step down from Presidential advisory board... they then turned their sights on Elon Musk.

Remember folks, debate is no longer welcome. Influence and changing minds is no longer welcome.

You'd think the tolerant left would be happy to like-minded influencers in Trump's ear... but nope, you must do as they say, or your house will be burnt. As Bill Maher said, you must now apologize

The left is embarrassing themselves. If Trump has even a moderately successful presidency the democrats/liberal/progressive parties will be in shambles for a long time.

But, if Trump screws this whole thing up I could see the pendulum swing back over to the left

.

... tolerant left ... they then ...

/////

... the tolerant left ... do as they say, ...

who ?

Do you have names -- or can point to when the meetings are when "they" say ****

you probably have a point but it gets lost by painting everything you find disagreeable in life into a corner with terms like "left" and "they"

Perhaps the Uber guy and Elon Musk made their decisions based on what each surmised by listening to all sides then deciding .

I don't think one intellectually bullies either of those people

i love the thought that "the left" has to play by different rules. they "have to" work with a republican

but when it was the other way they never work with "the left" and in not shocking news these same people calling out "the left" never roast or blast the right for not working with "the left" when they are in power

what you're describing has nothing to do with this thread

And this is why I watch Bill Maher. I take more of a hardliner stance against Islam but Maher understands what we are dealing with and isn't in denial like most Westerners:

Note to future business execs... if you dare to say something positive about the potential of this country, the left will destroy you.

Sure that's a way to look at it. I'm sure you felt the same way when the right has repeatedly called for banning Ben and Jerry's, declared War on people declaring War on Christmas, so on so forth.b

Why are you so upset about this Plank situation? Just the free market at work on a smaller scale, not political correctness.

LOL I love how you guys always go to this like you "got me"

I don't know how many times I have to say it, but I'll do it one more time for you. They have every right to do what they're doing, but I can't for the life of me understand WHY they are doing it.

The man did nothing wrong.

It's just another example of the left trying to control opinion that agrees with them, or else.

Typical fascist stuff
