As with many situations there are multiple causes as work. I think Mattis and others are right to note the singularly destructive role of very poorly chosen one during his misbegotten presidency.
 
I'm glad our current president isn't divisive...

he just spends his days publicly attacking Texas and Florida. He calls people who don't want to be locked down "Neanderthals." He calls people who haven't gotten vaccinated "not smart." He works with big tech companies to censor what he deems misinformation (notice I said what he deems. he decided landlords have no rights, and flagrantly admits to breaking the law to screw them over

Not divisive at all.

if you look two posts above i alluded to the fact this is a situation that has had multiple contributing factors...and yes your boy has played a uniquely destructive and malevolent role in the life of our country the past four years...i'm sorry to have to say this to you...i know how upsetting you find it...General Mattis got to see him at close quarters....i think he got it right

The only role I see Donald Trump playing in Portland was sending in federal troops to protect federal land that was being insurrected by a bunch of domestic terrorists. I believe you referred to those officers as throwing gas on a fire.

But Trump is long gone and the violence has gotten much worse. Maybe - I know this is a stretch - but maybe the local leadership is the main problem?

Nah- no way. Crazy for criminals to take responsibility for their own misgivings.

I’m sure all the people committing homicides and standing over the bodies just envisioned Donald Trump instead.
