Possible Pitcher vs Hitter Matchups (first round)

The good news. We only have to knock them off three games instead of four. If we can't beat the Dodgers in the best of five series, we don't deserve more than just making the playoffs. Plus there is nothing saying the Cards get past either the Pirates or the Reds in the first round. That would put us back into front for home field advantage.

I understand that, but what I meant was it would be extremely disloyal of the organization to just leave BJ off. Is it the right move? No. But we're talking about the last spot on the bench. I can't see any way they don't make that spot BJ's. It's not like Constanza has been so much better.

To succeed in the post-season you sometimes have to leave behind someone who helped you in the regular season. I recall the Giants in 2010 leaving Barry Zito off their roster.

Does our organization have the balls to do it?

They should def leave BJ off the roster. And if they had someone else who could play 2nd other than EJ I'd say leave Uggla off as well. Get rid of the dead weight.

I hope they have the brains not to replace something horrible with something even worse.

I totally agree. Can Janish play 2nd? I don't want him for his bat, but I like him filling in for CJ at the end of games at 3rd.

Uggla should be on the roster, but only as a guy off the bench who can hurt a fastball if he gets lucky enough to get the bat on the ball. In a situation where we need a long ball I'd feel better with him pinch hitting than someone like BJ or one of the other backup middle infielders. He could be a right handed version of Eric Hinske.

There offense is not looking good lately. Just need one or two of our guys to step up. Would be huge if Gattis could stay hot for this upcoming series.

Gattis, and JUp were looking good the last couple of days of the season. If we'e getting some pop from the right side, we'll be in pretty good shape, since I think our lefties are a pretty good bet.

Yup, Uggla does have the power potential. The other thing he still does pretty well is draw walks.
