Postseason Thread

Mets won their division. Unless you scrap divisions there has to be importance to winning your division.

Unless you say the Cubs beat the Cards so they should be able to take the Cards' home field away.

I dunno man, I'm a tradionalist, but I think it's time to look forward and see there are better ways of doing things. These uneven divisions and schedules have become sort of a joke. And yes, and someone else mentioned, reseeding would be the fair option here.

Dominant pitching performance so far from Volquez. Was he on anyone's list of dominant starting pitching going into the post-season.

He's been really tough to read this year. At times, he's been ace-like... and then he'll look like a gas can for a few starts.

I really wasn't closely paying attention to the scheduled starters, and I was expecting David Price but instead got Estrada?

How does that speak to the confidence Gibbons has in Price? He was brought in to be the leader, the man, for a relatively pedestrian starting staff, and was instead passed in an elimination game and a lead game in the ALCS.

That speaks volumes, especially if your a team looking to open up your checkbook to find someone to lead your staff and take you into the promise land.

And at what age is Salvador Perez done at? It can't be healthy taking on that big of a workload, can it? I mean he will be lucky to walk when he's 30. That's one tough SOB!

WTF is this? 2 broke girls?

My local FOX channel at 10 sharp goes and cuts out the ALCS for 2 broke girls? Really? You have to be ****ing kidding me? Anyone else this happening to, lol?

Watching the Royals in the postseason is sort of like the mirror image experience of watching the Braves in the postseason. Everything goes right, every bit of luck breaks their way, all their stars play up to their regular season standards. I was raised in Kansas City and I'm rooting for the Royals, but it's a little annoying.

The curse of Ned Yost. Really liked that guy when he was here. He's not a great in game manager, and has received a fair amount of critism and rightfully so, and has made some boneheaded moves during his tenure, but I wish he was in Atlanta instead of a Fredi if it has to be one of Bobby's protigue.

Interesting that teams can win without that dominant ace. We've seen ace-like performances this off-season from Lackey, Estrada, Cueto and now Volquez. Dominant pitching sometimes comes from players not considered TOR types. And sometimes you win without good pitching. Not saying that a dominant starter like Kershaw is without value. Just that there are many different paths to success, both in the regular season and post-season.

I think what it all comes down to is luck, getting contributions from the unexpected, and having your key players contribute. Obviously, having aces on your staff will lessen the need for luck, but having your hitters step up really is the most important variable.

I really like this Royals team, and I really like how Dayton Moore has put this team together. It's a very balanced team. The line up has some pop in it with Hosmer, Moustakas, Morales, and Cain. They don't strike out much. This team had the fewest amount of strike outs of any AL team this year. The pitching staff had the 3rd best ERA in the AL.
