Potential 2016 Offseason Targets

I'm done with this... It's pointless stupid and childish. Learn to argue respectfully and realize your opinions aren't fact and that your view of the world is apparently very wrong. Talk about the damn topic and not how huge your muscles are.
You won't pick up any internet chicks here bro.

Finally someone we can all say we missed on this list - and I'm having an unbelievably hard time understanding how.

1.) TOR potential.
2.) Left-handed.
3.) BIG-TIME swing-and-miss stuff.
4.) Won't likely require more than a 3 year commitment.
5.) No draft-pick compensation attached even if there's no change to the CBA.

Checks ALL the boxes for us, right?

I think I recall his name being mentioned once or twice, but really only in passing - not as a realistic target. The question is, why not???

RICH HILL

Sure the injury history is checkered, but when he's been on the mound for the last two years he's absolutely performed like an "Ace". I wouldn't personally bat an eye if they offered him 3 years/$54 million.

Add a trade for Santana and bring on Spring Training.

Teheran, Hill, Santana, Folty, ???

Re-sign Collmenter and grab another inexpensive veteran off the scrap heap to split deals (guaranteed if they win a rotation spot) to provide competition for Wisler and Blair as potential trade chips in case they pitch well and to buy more time for Blair/Newcomb/Sims in case of injuries (or non-performance from Matt or Aaron). Jorge de la Rosa is another name not yet mentioned that might prove viable as a name for that as a potential second lefty.

Here is Coppy's quote about acquiring pitchers:

"what we want to do is get guys that are more stable"

Hill has thrown less than 300 innings over the last 8 years. I'm not sure that qualifies as "stable".

Now go ahead and get angry at me for pointing out the facts that pertain to the matter.

Yawn. Give it up Internet God.

Yeah, Rich Hill is the epitome of a stable starting pitcher. Exactly what the Braves are looking for.

Presenting facts to you is like talking to a 6 year old that just sticks his fingers in his ears and says "blah blah blah". You are willingly ignorant, and resist all opportunities to educate yourself.

Must be a slow day at the open house you're hosting in that $100k double-wide.

I don't ever remember Enscheff being this bad over there.

Near the end of the Scout days, my ignore list was so over-loaded, that maybe 3 posts would be visible on the average page. Thing is, I warned you guys that the natives were going to get restless here with the rebuild.

I agree. Everyone understands the need for a rebuild at the beginning but get a year or two of terrible baseball and everyone starts looking for ways to cut corners.

No one likes to watch crap baseball. But when you sign up for a rebuild it's inevitable. And when you decide to get out of the boat in the middle of a crossing it doesn't end well.

Nothing had really been attempted like this in baseball history. A quarter of a century is a LONG time to go without a full rebuild. Even though there was only one WS championship to show for that run, there's was always a guarantee of at least of a competitive team. So, it was really the strategy of reloading, in hopes of a hitting the playoff crap shoot, when they weren't legitimate contenders. All of those rosters had gaping holes.

I don't disagree. As I've said before, I think the timing of the rebuild could not have been worse but could not have been put off either.

The move to the new stadium has to be applying enormous pressure on the front office to supply a team that isn't a mixture of vomit and snot. However, the balancing pressure has to be the needs of optimizing the rebuild for best long term results. They are walking a tight rope with no net.

Can't stay healthy ever.... In his late 30s

Andrew Cashner or Doug Foster are probably two guys that would be at the top of my list who should come on 1-2 year deals at less than 10 million per. Although with the lack of quality options this winter, I guess it's possible someone could overpay for their services.

I still think a trade for a major starter pitching piece will happen. And we'll likely get better value than people expect.

Yawn. Give it up Internet God.

I am certainly no Enscheff fan, and I love Rich Hill. Saw him here in Seattle his second start of the season and he was awesome. Best curveball in the game, perhaps better than Kershaw.

But his Lordship is correct. He's old, and he's feeble.

Maybe two and an option, discounted for possible injury?

I know this won't be popular but one guy I think we should sign is Bartolo Colon. He won't get a qualifying offer and likely takes a 1 year deal. He eat some innings and post a sub 4 Era. He doesn't walk people , is durable, and doesn't take a long term commitment. Then we can set our sights high for a mid rotation starter or better for the other rotation spot. Preferably a lefty.

Just saw news he's getting MRI for shoulder.

That's a huge red flag. Part of why I want Greinke is because he has been super durable because his arm wasn't abused when he was young since he didn't start pitching until 6 months before he was drafted. I would still trade for him but I would not pay that full amount.

Yeah but what if he accidentally eats one of our top prospects?
