Potentional Maybin trade with Giants

I would offer Maybin/Jim Johnson/Chris Johnson for Susac/Strickland/Mac Williamson. I think Susac just needs consistent at bats at the ML level. Peraza can play center. Susac would solve our catching issue which would leave about 50+ million to find a 3B and a Left fielder for 2016.

You realize that Bleacher Report articles are mostly written by fans who read the same things on MLBTR, Twitter, and other baseball sites as everyone here does, right? These guys don't have "sources".

Definitely not saying Maybin, Grilli, or anyone else won't get moved, but that story could just as easily have been written by someone that posts here.

In the article, BR uses 2 buster Olney tweets that talk about Maybin on the block and the Giants as a possibility

We could trade Maybin for Susac and sign span for cf if we don't feel Mallex is ready. Seems it will easier to sign an outfielder than a catcher this offseason

Doubt rather seriously you'll get Span to sign a one year deal with a team option for 2017. If not, why bother trading Maybin when the guy you go sign to replace him blocks Mallex and you then have to turn around and trade him if/when Smith is ready?

That's the reason Maybin "fits" - not because anyone expects this to continue for another year and a half. If Mallex is ready by 2017, you hand Cam $1 million and say "thanks".

Right. He read them just like the rest of us.

Not sure what you're saying to me then. BR just said that Maybin was available and the Giants could have interest. I came up with a hypothetical trade. BR didn't mention Susac

Check the above link to read the writer's profile - he's a Mets fan who plays fantasy baseball, not a reporter. He wrote the story after reading Olney's tweets and is speculating what might happen - exactly the same thing we all do here.

It's not "news" when it comes from Bleacher Report is what I'm trying to explain - Bleacher Report is a fan site.

Nobody is overrating Maybin at all. It's been so long since the Braves had a decent center fielder. Bourn was good, but he was in and out so fast he doesn't really count. Maybin isn't excellent, but he's more than serviceable. Find a left fielder and our (not including you) outfield isn't so bad.

Why wouldn't you exercise the option and deal him? $9m .800 OPS CFs don't grow on trees. Even if he's not quite at that level, he's certainly been very good here. That would have value for someone, even if Mallex is our choice.

He obviously stated it is hypothetical... Are people not allowed to talk hypothetical trades if they want to anymore? He never said it was news... Good lord you are pretentious on your internet high horse.

I'm all for shopping Maybin around but would really have to be quite a haul to make sense. He's more valuable to us then I think other teams. His power speed combo is not easy to find and we have an easy solution to our log jam by moving him to LF.

Exactly.
