Profar 162 game suspension.

Kinda what AA gets for always looking for a deal. It works sometimes but when it doesn’t you end up with an incomplete team or a bad deal.
What is crazy is that we could have just kept Laureano and saved close to 10 million last year before the season started. And if he hit for us last year like he did for Baltimore and SD, we could have attached QO to him and gotten a pick if he signed somewhere else, or if he accepted, he would have gotten a really good bat for not much more than we are paying Laureano. Or we could have extended him.

Incredible failure by AA all around.

how a guy who posted a plus .800 ops in not a small sample size was allowed to walk while the team had complete control via Arb is very close to an offense that should get one fired. Like I have said, I think AA thinks he has to prove how smart he is and just doesn't take the easy wins.

Literally complaining about losing a guy to a PED extension and how we should have kept a guy that's already been popped for PEDs. Clown world. No way that dude isn't juicing again.

And this isn’t hindsight. We all questioned the non-tender when it happened.

I mean, that doesn’t change his point. Non-tendering Laureano was never a smart move. If he got popped for PEDs again, you’re not out much. And I doubt he was released because AA thought he might be on steroids. And, btw, Laureano has in fact not gotten popped for PEDs again.

Loureano wasn't kept because historically hasn't been a good player. Only time he's been good since 2020 was the year he got busted for PEDs. And he has a career year at age 30? I know he didn't get popped last year. Doesn't change the fact I think he's likely juicing again.

He cost less than 5 million and posted a 800 plus ops in over 200 abs for the Braves. The team and AA both had a nice long look at him and let him walk. There is literally no defense of that. If he sucked.. cut him.. if he got popped.. cut him..

Exactly. And we all said it at the time. At worst, Laureano is a good 4th outfielder who has always been able to hit LHP.

He was under arby control so it's irrelevant. He was a cheap OF option that hit pretty well for us. There was zero reason to non tender him and then sign arguably no better of a player in Profar to 3/45.

So the solution was to sign Profar for 3/45 when he had been barely any better than Laureano over the same period? At least Laureano provided positional flexibility in the OF. Profar was limited to LF or DH and we knew that when we signed him.

It's a move that was indefensible this time last year and it's looks 1000x times worse now.

Whether RL is juicing now is irrelevant. He hasn't been popped and he's making relative peanuts.
