"Mr. Cub" Ernie Banks Has Passed Away

A truly fine ballplayer and great ambassador for the game. He kind of had a Dale Murphy type career (though longer) in that he had a seven-year stretch when he was All-World before tailing off. NL MVP in 1958 and 1959.

The sad truth about the rest of the decade is that baseball is gradually going to be losing the last of its living legends, leaving us with Bonds, Canseco, McGwire....

Cherish every day we have an Aaron, or a Mays, or a Gibson, or a Koufax to hold up against today's pretenders.
