wren probably told fredi not to use him two innings since he had to figure out how to pay for those absurdly awful free agent contacts he has.

the cards put their big money in matt holiday. the sox put big money into david ortiz. the braves put their big contracts into dan uggla and bj upton.

i'm going to be sick.

to be fair, the sox also put big money into josh beckett, john lackey, dustin pedroia on the current team. also, before they unloaded them, they gave big money to adrian gonzalez, carl crawford. they have a lot more money to use and therefore more room for mistakes.

certainly not defending BJ and Uggla and their heinous contracts, but just looking at it fairly. the cards also gave 13 mil to beltran, which could have exploded in their face (of course, it didn't - it worked out amazingly for them - but it would have screwed us had we done it).
