You know the person who wrote that is black and the lead person interviewed is "Nathan W. Jones leads the Bay Area chapter of the Black Gun Owners Assn".
Highlights include

But of course sturg and his fan club who cannot read or do minimal research (seriously took me 10 seconds to get behind the paywall and read this article) would just see the headline, pop a viagra and get a rage boner.

You took the headline as LA Times saying black people should be armed while it was really talking about the rise of legal gun ownership of black people and talking historically about how states like California have used gun laws to put black people down.

The headline isn't racist because it describes the content of the article, talking about California's troubled history with legally armed black citizens. Kudos for also falling for the fake far right media rage.
That article is peppered with racist overtones throughout it. Their accusing people of being racist throughout it with no proof
