Race

Don you dare validate stereotypes Sturg. You’re a bad person if you use this data in say POLICING
We can be realistic about where to police while still putting blame on culture or economics instead of race though. And we can do that while acknowledging that those cultures are more prevalent around certain groups.

You already do this, with trans shooters. None of them that I can remember have been black but you rightly point out that there has been a surge of trans shootings.

We can say urban areas with lots of economic hardship or gang activity are hotspots for crime and benefit from more policing. Yes, most of those areas are going to be primarily black, we all know that. But there is a difference both morally and electorally in saying it in those terms. Just like those same areas aren’t the best spots to send white collar corporate fraud investigators or a meth task force into, those guys belong in offices and trailer parks.

You’re allowing the terminology games that Democrats have played against the Right for 70 years to define your terminology and that’s a mistake. Don’t say you want to focus on policing blacks to curb gang crime. That’s their framing. Say you want to focus on several kinds of crime, including the violent crime that happens in economically depressed urban areas, and lay out where that focus makes sense. That’s not only more palatable, it’s also more accurate. I don’t think you would care if someone skimming millions from MN childcare grants is Somalian or Canadian, you would want them stopped. I don’t think you care if the guys pumping hoes and drugs on street corners are black, Hispanic, or Estonian, you would want it stopped.

Don’t be the mirror image of Biden’s “poor kids and white kids too” goofery.

I’ve mentioned that trans are almost always white so to me that validates my intention is not “racist” but it’s proper identification of glaring issues unavoidable through basic review of the data.

The “framing” is fine but to me useless as the results yield the same thing.

What are the crime rates between white and black young men from ages 15-30 from similar socioeconomic backgrounds?

Does that matter?

Sure it does. Theres a black dude in his 30s I see around here all the time. Tractor Supply, rodeos, auto parts store, school functions. Dude is a single father, always in well worn work boots and usually a MAGA hat. Always has his daughter with him. Sounds a lot like I do when he talks. And there are plenty of white kids who have embraced the whole hip hop culture with the baggy pants and profanity, etc.

Who would you expect to be more likely to commit a crime? Who would you rather have as a neighbor?

Statistically someone like him is more likely to commit a crime. Doesn't mean he individually is more likely.

Its understood that applying broad strokes does not yield 100% accurate results.

I would argue that he is far less likely to commit a crime than the average person or the Eminem wannabes, and that’s why your problem should be with culture instead of race.

Is a successful black man less likely to commit a crime from a poor white kid from a bad family? Absolutely.

Will a successful black man find himself in a position where a race based law enforcement mechanism impact him negatively. Highly unlikely.
