For the record, I dont think it matters who the author is. The fact that you are focusing your energy there tells me you dont want to touch the arguments. Also, zerohedge said they confirmed the authenticity
 
This is a thread about race. There is a long letter that makes several points about race.

That's part of it. It is so long and all over the place that I hesitate to engage in a discussion of its contents. If it were more coherent and concise, I'd do so.

Tell you what. If you want to pick one paragraph or point in the letter, I'd be happy to share my view. There are some parts of it I agree with.
 
That letter goes off the rails at a few points but a lot of uncomfortable truths in there. If we insist on looking at these problems through a PC lens we will not solve the problem. Heres something no one ever talks about. Police dont believe you when you say you cant breath because many people fake anything they can to try to control or delay the arrest. I view that a lot like fake rape claims should be taken seriously because of the damage it does to the real victims credibility. I dont want people charged for doing it because it would be abused and it's hard to prove but if less people faked it cops could take it more seriously.

much of the letter consists of arguing against things that no one is arguing

for example

"The claim that the difficulties that the black community faces are entirely causally explained by exogenous factors in the form of white systemic racism, white supremacy, and other forms of white discrimination remains a problematic hypothesis that should be vigorously challenged by historians."

This is farcical. No one is making this claim. It is juvenile strawmanism. I think I will revise down that C-.

I guess you guys are not really anti-elitist. Otherwise a pseudo-Berkeley affiliation wouldn't get you so excited. What you seem to be is pro fake elitist.

Pretty sure he is objecting to the use of the word "entirely". As in its part of the problem but not the whole problem.

It is not written as a thoughtful piece to engage other people in discussion. It is more in the spirit of thethe saying police are not gunning blacks down so there is no evidence of a problem.
 
In my experience when tenured faculty so much as wrote a letter to the editor for the local rag they always sign their name.

And live for the intellectual confrontation

This has been out since this past Thursday. No one from UC Berkley has contested it or engaged in a back and forth and no one has claimed authorship
If this goes on into the end of the week this is for lack of a better word .

The author is irellevant. The content is what matters.

But I dont blame anybody for claiming anonymity knowing how the mob works.

We've seen how many people now unemployed in the media industry in a month simply for publishing an unapproved narrative?

And who decides who gets to stay and who gets to go?
Our local university Bussiness Department has been over taken with Koch.
Do we "censure" them too ? Real epeople with names and faces have stood up to that money

And the big picture racial issues this writer brings up --- how do you resolve those issues?

Well when the data overwhelmingly shows no dissproportionate treatment its the onus of the person with an opposing viewpoint to bring something else to the table.

So please, aside from saying 'bro'(hahahahaha) where is your evidence that this systemic racism is happening? I have concsluive data. What do you have? Trump hatred?
