Race

Not for nothing, but ....

I read 1984 in HS. It was terrible.

I thought most people had, so it always confuses me when someone's main argument about 1984 references is that the other person should read it. Maybe it was removed from other people's reading lists and we were just lucky.

We had to read Fahrenheit 451.

I've since read Orwell as an adult. The retorts of "you haven't read it" is definitely a distraction from the point being made

I feel more people in this country need to actually read 1984

Kind of like the people that reference the Bible need to read it too

Have to admit, in this case, you're sorta correct. When I typed 1984, I was thinking Harrison Bergeron. Not really sure how I got the two confused... apologies to the board.

They’re riding a wave of dead black people to gain political leverage”

Let me just bullet point my thoughts on this as I listen.

- This does nothing for the country? Its a message to all police officers that this could be them if they use excessive force and the guy dies regardless of if that excessive force was the exact cause of death. I like that message.

- This is the swiftest justice he has ever seen? Because he was arrested 1 day after the video came out? 30% of people who kill cops are arrested within 24 minutes, 60% within 24 hours, and 90% within 48 hours. And almost all of them plead guilty without a trial.

- he didnt get a fair trial? Oh lawdy let me tell you how much I dont give a ****. Cops are strong advocates for making it as hard as possible for everyone else to get a fair trial and now want some sympathy? Come on man. This guy got high priced lawyers paid. Meanwhile cops are just fine with other people going on trial with overworked public defenders with little to no resources. In fact they say its anti-cop to support funding public defenders. So spare me the crocodile tears. In my home state you only need 10 out of 12 jurors to convict for a felony. Guess who the biggest defenders of that is? The cops. They say it would make it too hard to convict criminals...... truth is its a loophole so they can have 2 black jurors and still convict.

- policing in America isnt inherently racist? Let me throw a curveball on this one. For many cops the racism is a learned behavior. They werent racist before becoming a cop. But let me ask you this, if you were a racist who hated black people, what better position could you have to fulfill your hatred? The FBI, which is extremely pro-cop, even warned about White Supremacists joining law enforcement. A group of cops even spent 10 years framing innocent black people until they were caught, they specifically targeted black people with no record just to try to get them started down a bad path. Truly evil ****. That happened in Georgia. You want to tell me policing isnt racist. Then show me where cops like this or the Baltimore Gun Trace Task Force get caught quickly instead of spending 10 years terrorizing black people before they get caught. You cant tell me no one noticed or complained. The cops strategy to law enforcement is "the more people we get to arrest the less crime there will be". In a way its technically correct. Just arresting **** loads of people for any reason does lower crime in a way. Police say its not their fault they flood black areas they do that because those are the high crime areas. Which is true. Poor areas traditionally have more crime and black people tend to be poorer and live in those areas. Problem is the "good" people in that area have to be far more law abiding than you or me not living in that area. So cops strategy of needing to be able to arrest a lot of people hurts the good people that live in those bad areas. Its like killing cancer with chemotherapy. Chemo can cure cancer but its also killing you in the process. Thats a good analogy to how they approach policing in poor areas.....

- I agree that the Floyd incident wasnt about race. It was about Floyd making Chauvins day a little harder by not getting in the police car so he was going to make sure Floyd regretted that decision. Its standard operating procedure for cops. Its a pretty effective tactic.

- I agree about Biden. His record with black people is abysmal. A Republican running with his record would be considered a white supremacist. Trump said a lot of bad things about minorities, Biden has done a lot of bad things to minorities through the policies he championed. He should show his commitment to fighting white supremacy by resigning.

- He is wrong, I know who Tony Timpa was/is.

- are these black cops racist? They can be. Like I said before, oftentimes its a learned behavior from dealing with so many actually ****ty black people on the job. Its a natural part of being human.

- I wonder what this black cops response to the texts Amber Guyger sent about how she doesnt like working with black cops would be

Who could have predicted such things?

Life’s about to get much worse for blacks who reside in democrat controlled cities.

Uh oh, someones asking the right questions. Maryland state attorney general's office asking for review of former medical examiner who testified he would have ruled Floyd death as "undetermined" 17 year career. The most frustrating thing to me is that people just refuse to connect the dots that are obviously there. The medical examiner is one of those experts I have been posting about that can be pressured to give a desired result. I dont know what they will find but there are plenty of corrupted medical examiners out there.

I'm sure there are. I'm also just as sure there are defense witnesses that do the same thing in court. What's your plan to get rid of them?

An Atlanta oversight board has ordered the reinstatement of Garrett Rolfe, the fired police officer charged with murder in the death of Rayshard Brooks, based on technicalities about dismissal procedures under the Atlanta city code.

Rolfe will remain on administrative leave until his criminal charges are resolved, the Atlanta Police Department said in a statement to NPR.

The department filed paperwork to dismiss Rolfe the day after he shot Brooks, a 27-year-old Black man, in the parking lot of a Wendy's on June 12. Rolfe has since been charged with murder, though his criminal case has been bogged down by procedural delays.

The order to reinstate him, made by the city's Civil Service Board, is based on the finding that Atlanta police did not follow city code when it dismissed him. The board found the department made several errors on the dismissal paperwork and did not give Rolfe adequate time to respond.
