Race

And yet again another issue where those of us that aren’t left of crazy were right while the board lunatics and lecturer were wrong.

How many times does it need to happen before they realize?

I don't actually begrudge the BLM co-founder the large, expensive houses. It appears she's able to afford this through things like speaking engagements and media deals and not from payments from BLM. So she took her position and leveraged it into wealth. She's a great success story for capitalism. Of course it undermines her position as a marxist but hypocrisy is hardly rare in politics.

it's a seeming paradox but marxists are sometimes very good entrepreneurs...two of my college friends were committed marxists and they had a very successful business selling late night coffee and bagels

Exactly. They want us to be mad at her for being successful? Not gonna bite. Legal scams are all the rage nowadays.

No doubt. She has found her gift and has dug in.

The people who give her money are idiots though. No different than the Trump gift

The one where the celeb tells black people that they have a 50/50 chance of getting shot by a police officer, so no need to comply

It would be nice if the left and their Pravda would stop trying to incite a race war.

Spoke with two police chiefs of late. Both have said privately their guys don't want to respond anymore. No one is going above and beyond or responding to anything near shift end. No one wants to be a headline.

both said its a scary situation because the people that are trying to do away with police, are the same people that NEED the police more often than not.

Lawyers have created a hellish employment environment so getting rid of "bad" cops is a nightmare that usually results in a large settlement.

The goal is to disarm America and create an imbalanced justice system against political dissidents

People on Twitter were freaking out about Chauvin invoking his 5th amendment right to not testify today. People were acting as if this was proof of his guilt. In case anyone doesn't know, defense attorneys virtually never want their clients to testify. You could be defending the most innocent person in the world and you still don't want them to testify. So I will guarantee you that this guys attorneys have told him to not testify and he has wisely listened.

People should understand that not testifying doesn't necessarily mean you have something to hide. It often means you don't want to leave yourself open to manipulation by the prosecutor.

Until recently my neighbors on 3 sides were all cops for different departments. Two of them are supervisors, the other is black. Each has expressed the same sentiment.

We were taught in school that you could go to a policeman if you needed help. Hustlers, media, and politicians are teaching today's kids the exact opposite. Imagine putting yourself at risk each day to protect people who think you're a monster.

Almost had a mistrial today in the Chauvin trial. Not out of the woods yet in that regard.

The defense apparently presented a theory that Floyd could have been killed by exhaust from the cop car. The prosecution wanted to call their medical expert as a rebuttal witness and enter the blood gas test results into evidence. The problem? These tests apparently weren't given to the defense before trial and would be surprise evidence. The judge rightfully told the prosecution they couldn't enter the tests as evidence and that having their expert even talk about them would result in a mistrial. The prosecution brought their expert on the stand and came perilously close to talking about the blood gas results. The defense was not happy.

No mistrial was declared but there still could be one. Sometimes in this situation a judge will let a jury reach a verdict to see if something at trial had an impact. If the jury acquits, everyone forgets about what the prosecution did and the judge doesn't have to do anything. If the jury convicts, the judge could step in at that point and declare a mistrial. He might not but it is something to watch for coming up.

At the very least this is now good grounds for appeal if there is a conviction.

Politicians are pandering, and are only inciting\hurting the situation.

I'm not impressed with the job the defense did. I still think there's a high chance of acquittal as the deck is stacked in Chauvin's favor procedurally but I'm not as convinced as I was.

Chauvin will appeal the verdict till he wins or runs out of higher courts. So even if he gets convicted he will eventually be cleared.
