Rangers Inquired About Brian McCann

Shortstop is the most important infield position for defense. That's not to say the others are not important, it just means you want your best defender there rather than third. This isn't like with Baltimore where Hardy is at short. We'd be crazy to move Simmons off short because he's the best there is at short. I am all for adding Profar, but for second or third, not short. Though him backing up short and playing there on Simmons off days is a good idea.

Anybody who ever wanted to move Simba off SS has lost it. The guy is the best SS in 20 years to come along. Crazy.

I haven't seen a ton of profar. If y'all think he could play 3rd in that scenario, I'm open to it. That's not that important in my hypothetical scenario. I just want Profar, and you'd have to move someone to get him in the lineup, and you'd get a lot more for Captain Babip than Uggs. That's the important part.

Keep in mind, most natural shortstops have no problems moving to third. Janish for example is a shortstop but currently our back-up third baseman too.

Absolutely. Simba has the arm for it. Then he could hit in the two hole, and your

Lineup would be thickened out;

Profar

Simmons

Heyward

J-Up

Freeman

Uggla

Gattis

BJ

Pitcher

You don't move Simmons to third. You move Uggla or Profar.

I have. He can definitely play all infield positions minus first and play them well. He also plays a little outfield. The thing is, you're not getting him. The Rangers are desperate for hitting because they're really struggling to score runs like the Braves. They're hoping to trade a couple of arms for McCann, and we don't need more pitching.

The offer was Joe Nathan for Brian McCann which if I was Wren I would have laughed them off the phone.

If that was truly the offer someone should just take their phone do they can't call anyone else and take up good time.
