Looks like Julio is going to the Titans for a pretty mediocre return. Man the Falcons are a poorly run organization.
For real. Julio already said he wasn't coming back. I don't see how you could expect a better return than what they got.
Meh, I guess the early reports of offers of first rounders set expectations high.
The Falcons are terribly run. They knew heading into the draft that Julio was gone and yet for some reason still took a win now player when Ryan's perfect replacement (Fields) was on the board.
I don't know that Fields was Ryan's perfect replacement. I like Fields, but I don't consider him to be a can't miss prospect. Of course, I thought Mahomes in the 1st was a reach as well.
There will be more QBs in the future drafts. Like I said, I think passing on Chase was the bigger misgiving. Chase is probably the best WR to come out in awhile.
I just think getting a pass catching TE is going after a luxury when you have basically zero chance of competing. The same is true of a WR.
The only way going after Pitts made sense was if the Falcons were going to make one last run with Ryan and it was going to be based on a crazy passing attack. With Julio, Ridley, and Pitts on the field at the same time, defenses would have fits. But trading Julio makes the passing game much less dangerous.
Pitts is a win now kind of pick when the Falcons should have been rebuilding.
The Falcons don't have zero chance of competing without Julio. As long as Ryan is producing well, you have enough weapons to make them a dangerous offense. If the defense can be average, that's a playoff caliber team. The Saints should be down in 2021, so that will help as well.
Again, Chase is probably the best WR prospect since Julio, so he would have been a perfect replacement for Julio if they knew that were gonna have to trade him. Pitts is a luxury, unless he's gonna be a generational player. Granted, he might be. TE's like him a few and far between. But Chase and Freirmuth would have been a better combination if you ask me.
I still think they have zero chance of competing. They have Ryan and Ridley which is a good combo. However, Pitts looked much better as a rookie with Julio drawing attention. With him as the number 2 target he's going to draw more attention from defenses and that will increase his rookie struggles.
There's a big dropoff from Julio to Gage and the running game is pretty poor. The defense would have to drastically improve to even reach the level of average. I can easily foresee a below average offense and a terrible defense leaving the Falcons as cellar dwellers.

Sean Payton reportedly wants to go with the 140 million dollar man Taysom Hill at QB.
Not shocking to take a chance on someone when your other choice is Jameis Winston. I kind of wish (except I'm a falcons fan) that New Orleans would get Watson, it would be fun to see what Payton could do with him.
Arthur Blank saying Julio changed once he got paid. Shocker
