I think at the time he had the highest passing rating ever in the Super Bowl.

Its a callout to an old time argument with Zito.

Ryan was a great QB. That is undeniable.

His lack of mobility and not elite arm strength hurt him though when you compare him to the best QB's of the era.

You don't need Elite Arm Strength. Brady didn't have elite Arm Strength. Brees had almost no arm strength especially late in his career. What matters is able to throw over the middle and the 20 yard out.

Ryan's issue was he wasn't Brady, Manning, Rodgers, so he was always outshone.

Please don't compare Brady to Ryan in terms of arm strength.

Just don't....

Falcons hire Jimmy Lake as DC. Not sure how I feel about that. Seems like Morris is bringing a lot of LA Friends with him. Hope we have some of that McVay success come to our offens.e

Lake has been a very good defensive coach/play caller... was not a good head coach... like this hire, but just a bit unexpected

I honestly don't know anything about him other than him getting the AC from LA last year. But I'm not a college guy. I'll fully admit it.

Was a DB coach most everywhere he's been... did an NFL stint to a handful of teams at that position before heading back to college. Was eventually the DC at Washington under Chris Petersen and was good at that position and called plays. When Petersen stepped down, he was named the successor and he was kind of a disaster as a college head coach. Couldn't recruit, didn't hire well, not great at organization. So good coach, terrible administrator.

Speaking of Ryan. Assuming the talks of the HOF holds true, Ryan will be the best player to not get into the Hall of Fame. Rivers and Ryan are both pretty great, but Ryan beats him just slightly because of his MVP season.

I'd put rivers over Ryan.

What do you think about Stafford?

Where would peak Ryan rank today?

Rivers never won the MVP, Rivers never made it to a super bowl.

Rivers is an interesting QB. He won CBPOY despite not being hurt because of a **** season.

Stafford isn't as good as Ryan or Rivers. Not even close. But more likley to get into the hall because of winning a super bowl. He could have astrong career finish and pass Ryan and Rivers, 3-4 more good years and he should be around Ryan and Rivers.

Stafford had Megatron boosting numbers. He just had to get it in the zip code.

Stafford has a cannon. Always has.

I don’t think Ryan or Rivers get in.

Megatron was amazing but Ryan had LOADS of weapons.

Ryan had lots of weapons. But Ryan made Harry Douglas a 1000 yard receiver.

CLosest you could get to that with Stafford was Marvin Jones, but Jones was a 700-800 yard receiver in Cincy. So he was at least a respectable 2. Harry Douglas only ever beat 500 yards 1 other time. After leaving Detroit Jones had an 800 yard season in Jacksonville when douglas left atlanta he got a total of 612 yards in 2 seasons in Tennessee.

He did, but even Julio wasn’t in Megatrons zip code

Julio came off the field on key third downs, goal line situations, and always dinged up with hammy issues.

Yeah, Julio was a beast, but was more of a one dimensional threat, speed, elevation and hands. That's why he was probably at his best when paired with Roddy or Sanu who could be the threat underneath that kept safeties honest. Megatron could do everything. He was like if TO had Moss's height, speed and jumping ability. The only knock on him was his hands weren't the top like Moss's.

Ben Johnson staying with the Lions. Thats a stunner honestly. Felt like a lock to get a HC job this cycle. Macdonald and not sure who else gets the other spot.

Julio was absolutely in Tron's zip code.

Stafford had Tron, but that was mostly it until later in his career. It was basically Tron and a decent but not great Brandon Peddigrew. He got Golden Tate and Tron together for 2 seasons and that was the best set of weapons he had.

Meanwhile, Ryan got at least 2 of Roddy White, Julio Jones, and Tony Gonzalez for practically his entire career (all 3 together for a few seasons). Plus Michael Turner and Stephen Jackson for about half his career.
