REAL FOOTBALL Thread

Man looking at the NFL man it's the wild wild west out there.

NFC has only one legit looking team so far, the Lions. Niners are ****ing injured to hell, Washington and Minnesota are fun surprising teams but can they keep on doing it all year long? I ahve not freaking clue what to make of the NFC South anymore. Falcons getting beaten by the Seahawks is not a great look, and the BUcs are getting wrecked with injuries and the Saints are wrekced with injuries. Eagles are an interesting team, and they look really good on paper, but they fell apart late in the year last year. NFC North is going to have 2 Wild Card teams at least and may have all 3.

AFC is looking really ****ing good so far. Baltimore is having one of the greatest offensive seasons like ever, Steelers are playing above the weight, Houston looks good, Buffalo looks good, Kansas City is playing amazing despite Mahomes having more picks than TDs.

I do feel bad for the Vikings. While I don't think they win because their offense was bad in the second half. To lose the game on a blatant facemask and roughing the passer where the refs had a clear 2 fouls they could call but instead gave the Rams a safety.

Puka coming back strong. Guys a gritty azz football player. I bet he has a short effective period playing like he does.

The Falcons messed up the draft the last 4 years, but at least all those skill guys are playing like studs with a competent QB.

Eh, i mean until this year there wasn'ta respectable QB at their pick. Of course Purdy wound up being a stud, but anyone else they could have gotten is ass. I do think Pitts was the wrong pick still..

Watching Buffalo abuse Seattle makes me mad we didn't win last week. I know Buffalo is a better team, but I'm still allowed to be mad. it just shows how bad our defense is. We need to go out and get someone or change something about our blitz packages or something.

****ing bears. They failed basic hail mary defense training. Especially vs. Jayden daniels.

First why bother rushing 3? Go with 2 rushers and a LB spy bunch of DBs and your tallest person back there, then to see every single defender rush the ball that was thrown short of the endzone. By gawd, i think I saw 5 defenders there when only 2 needed to be there.

The correct play is to blitz. Get the ball put before receivers can get down there

Problem with that is if you wind up with even numbers on the other side on big play can break it out.

So like say you rush 6, you have someone slant underneath, then you have potential numbers going the other way. where one move could spring the play the other way.

I don't understand why teams don't blitz in a hail mary situation. If a QB doesn't have time to let his wrs get down the field, they can't complete a hail Mary. I would have line up 2-3 DBs about 15-20 yards off the ball to guard against any short to intermediate throws in a hook and ladder type of play , then I would line up 3-4 of my tallest DBs/WRs around the goalline. And I would rush 5 guys. Hell I might even go with 1 less DB and bring 6 guys.

I went in a bit on this with sturg, but unless you really hid your blitz package well they'd just run a slant and get lead blockers. Hell you could basically run it as a screen then wind up with potential down field linemen with full heads of steam.

But really just tell 2 guys to not leave the end zone everyone else collapses backward keeping receivers just behind them.

There is data on this. When you blitz 5+ then success rate cuts in half. You basically create the lateral situation which almoat never works

Letting the qb have time for WR to get down field and letting the QB step into the throw is a horrific mistake

The success rate for hail mary's is already incredibly low.

When they expect the blitz they'll change. It can work as a change of pace but if a D-Coord builds up a tendency for it, then teams will adjust.

If that was my teammate I'd ****ing kill him. He is putting a target on the back of any skill player on your team.

Blitz and put your best WR as a safety. Falcons used put Julio on the field in those situations. Good luck catching it over him.
