REAL FOOTBALL Thread

LOL at giles' false sense of fandom.
People root for different teams for different reasons. There is no guide or any rules. If someone starts really getting in to baseball at the age of 16, sees Mike Trout play and loves him and becomes an Angels fan, who the hell cares? If they follow closely, root for them, watch them - does that make them any less a fan than someone who lives in LA? Give me a break.

My dad was a Braves, Cowboys, Devils fan. Was he a front-runner? I guess so. I grew up rooting for those teams because my dad did and I watched them on TV. Am I front-runner for liking the Cowboys? Well, I was 5 when they last won a SB - don't remember it at all. When I started to really get in to football and the cowboys, they freakin sucked. I remember the 5-11 seasons under Campo, the Drew Hensons, Quincy Carters, Chad Hutchinsons, etc. I remained a Cowboys and Braves fan. I fell out of hockey when they had a lockout, but I watched and loved the Devils winning 2 Cups in my time as a fan. I got back on board with hockey a few years ago, and loved Giroux and thus became a Flyers fan (after they lost in the cup to the hawks in 2010).

If someone has passion and follows a team, they are a fan. I'm a bigger Braves fan than some of my friends are Phillies fans who live in Philly.

Yep, clearly a front runner.

Typically its Jets, Isles, Nets, Devils......Giants, Mets, Rangers, Knicks. The selected fan bases are similar in the type of person that is a fan of those groups of teams.

Then you have BRULe-----he's a fan of Knicks, Bucs, Braves.......LOL!

Actually, it's Jets/Mets/Nets, Giants/Yanks/Knicks.

Thats what I meant Heyward. Mets and Jets together. Yanks on the other side

I'm choosing today to root for the Pats, Yanks, Lakers, Duke University (basketball), Alabama (football). No one can **** with my teams! You are all below me.

I don't know of anybody that roots strictly for front runner teams like that.

I know people that root for 1 front runner usually, but not that many.

you're such an idiot some times, it's mind blowing.

Who cares how you picked your team once you stuck with them? Are you a better person if you picked your team when they were bad and then got good?

Yep, clearly a front runner.

I am? Please explain to me how.
My dad? He probably was. My theory is, he despised the people around here so much, he rooted for their rivals.
And our family is from Georgia.
Again, giles, you are the ultimate fan.
It's funny you say frontrunners (I don't know anyone who roots for teams like you outlined, most people I know, even if they were frontrunners as kids, stick with their teams) say people are below them, while you're actively saying people are below you. you're a condescending, contradicting moron.

Any Cowboy fan outside of Texas is pretty much a front runner. (except probably not CC). The biggest front runner combination is Braves/Cowboys.....which you see all the time for people in the mid to late 20's or slightly older. Many of them are also some combination of Duke/Lakers fans. Why are so many Braves fans also Cowboys fans? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I think we should all just stop feeding the troll. Let him think he's somehow superior. He's superior to me in zero ways, and I take solace in that when I see the dumb things he says.

But how am I front runner for liking the Cowboys? I don't remember any of their success. I'm 22. What I remember most vividly is their struggles. So how does that make me a front runner? Wouldn't I have jumped ship after the THIRD 5-11 season if I were a front runner?
What you say makes no sense.

Are you Cowboys/Braves fan? Living in NJ?

I grew up rooting for the Braves. I didn't know any better. I didn't even follow them in the 90s at all, and barely in the early 2000s.

I am not sure why I'm trying to use reason, but I'm stopping there.

Why don't you answer my question though?
The Cowboys were not good when I actually became a fan. That is indisputable. A front runner would have picked whoever was good at the time. The Cowboys were not. So how does that make me a front runner?

I grew up wearing cowboys and braves stuff, by no choice of my own. was i a front runner as a kid in kindergarten who didn't understand anything? the fact that i continued to follow these teams makes me a front runner, even though when i was actually able to follow the cowboys, they were terrible?

I don't disagree, clearly he was.
That doesn't make me a front runner.
"Reeled me in"? Youre a moron.

Maybe when you grow up some you will understand it more. How can you actually get excited about your team winning when you have no allegiance to them?

Your allegiance is formed by watching the team. What does it matter where they play?

I've followed the Braves closely for 5+ years, idk how many, and cowboys longer. That's my allegiance. I don't need a false sense of allegiance to justify why I liked particular teams.

5 years? Lol. What about 3 generations of fans supporting a team. Thats real support and rooting for teams 3k miles away isnt the same.

You think ur as good of a fan as someone in Boston that has 3 generations of fans living and dying with team?
