REAL FOOTBALL Thread

The going rate for a above average starter hitting FA makes him elite? I don't think you know how football works.

I chuckled a good bit at your expense after that post.

When your the second highest paid player st your position I would say that's being paid to be elite. Every qb in the top 5 have won a superb owl.

Only on per year. He's not the only QB in top 5 of total value (Cutler and Romo) or in guaranteed money (Bradford, Stafford, and Romo tied with Brees for 5th)

Salary per year is only one piece of the pie. After 2015 the Falcons can redo Ryan's deal because of how it's structured to lower his cap number and therfor his APY, etc.

Besides he is only there because someone else hasn't come up to FA yet. He will be down around 5 -7 after the crop of rookie deals expire .

Zeets,
Roto had a blurb about the Falcons being interested in Delmas now that he has been cut , and letting DeCoud go and actually saving money with the move. I'd be all in for that. He is injured a lot, but stayed healthy in 2013. Good talented player IMO.

I'd be in favor of anyone at safety but Decoud. Considering how good the rest of our secondary is especially you'd think his job would be easy but he was easily one of the worst safeties in the NFL last year. Not that Delmas is some kind of stud, but I'd certainly take him over Decoud. Though I'm wondering if we even need to. I'm a fan of Zeke Motta I'd love to see what he can do. I know he's a strong out of college, but I think his build is more for Free anyway.

Probably. Even if he isn't 5-7 if the league average is about 19M for non-rookie/non-bum QBs per year, Ryan at 22 isn't a big deal. I think Luck is gonna be the next record setter though. Kaepernick and Wilson I think sign just under Ryan or maybe just over but not to Rodgers's level. Luck breaks the bank I think. What people point to is what Brees, Brady and Peyton made, but what people forget is that those guys are old, and that's a built in risk to their deal.

Darren Sharper supposedly raped 11 women over 4 months. Sad part is he probably could have had sex with many of the women without raping them.

Hard to look back on saints superb owl knowing such a monster was a key part of it. Gonna hold out a little bit of hope since bountygate looked horrible until the facts came out.

What's the latest CC, did he decide not to restructure or are the Cowboys pushing him out the door?

The Cowboys have yet to open contract discussions with RE DeMarcus Ware.
Dallas is currently a whopping $23.8 million over the salary cap. Coming off an injury-riddled six-sack season, Ware is owed $12.25 million in base salary. It's still very much a possibility that the Cowboys will have to release Ware outright, the likelihood of which grows every day the sides don't negotiate.

That's from rotoworld.

On, Over the Cap, they save more if they wait until June 1st.

Thanks Heyward, did you read my post a while back about BSPN and how they LOVE them any sort of negative Cowboys news?? The over the cap problem is no problem at all. Jerry will just get his checkbook out and write a few checks and we'll be under the cap in 2 or 3 days. Now we won't be very far under it, no big free agent deals this Summer, (I"m hoping for a couple of moderate ones) but about 3/4 of sportswriters are dumber than the idjits who create those online application forms for jobs, or the idjits who think up those dumbass reality shows, or...well you get the point. Now maybe they're going to get rid of Ware and/or play hardball with him, but there's no way anyone outside of Valley Ranch knows that right now. These are just effing morons on a slow news day trying to manufacture something. They're right about as often the all knowing dumbasses on TV who always predict a repeat by this year's Super Bowl champion. When was the last time that happened?

I dont watch much ESPN.

Regards to a back to back champion, it hasnt happened in 10 years.

I'll give Sea a better chance than recent others but odds are firmly against it.

Dallas' cap situation is pretty bad though.

Seattle almost certainly won't repeat. Odds are too high. Since the Cap. Only team to repeat were the Pats and Broncos. Seattle will be in a great position, unlike say the Ravens or Giants. But then again so were the Steelers after their 2 wins and they iddn't repeat.

Heyward pretty much touched on it. Right now, I have no idea if Ware will be back in Dallas next season. There is certainly a case against it. Still a better chance of him returning than Miles Austin. See no way he returns to the Cowboys.

Our cap situation is bad, and probably always will be under JJ, but it's still nothing like those idiots say it is. The only thing they like better than performing fellatio on their precious Giants, Redskins, Eagles, Patriots, or pretty much any team with a Manning is the play like the monkeys in the zoo and throw poop at the Cowboys. Not saying they don't deserve it sometimes but these guys have as much of an agenda as the talking heads on either side of any political argument.

JJ will fix the cap situation in a week or less, once he starts, he'll just convert some of those big salaries into signing bonuses, and he has a couple more tricks like that and we'll be under the cap, but as I said before, not by much. If Ware really does get healthy again and is willing to restructure I can't see him not coming back. I just wonder if he ever will be really healthy again. Mile should have been cut long ago, I think JJ doesn't want to admit he was suckered in yet again by another 1-2 year wonder.

Falcons cut Garrett Reynolds. Saved about 1.4M against the cap, not a huge number, guess they figured he had no shot of making the team and figured the mil could be spent better elsewhere.
