And defensive metrics track many things that are basically the same as that.

Not even close. When they track angles and velocity with adequate accuracy I will be more of a believer. I still use defensive metrics but they are not hte absolute measure for my opinions.

BTW Zito, sports science jsut did a piece proving that the pass to Crabtree in the superbowl was catchable if he wasn't held.

Yeah I watched it. They assume an awful lot in that video. Much easier to make that catch with no one guarding you at all.

I'm confused now. Just watch the video.

Watched it. Still not catchable JMO

Wath the play again. IN SS He runs a fade to the side line. For the real play, he ran towards the defender.

For a visual comparison

This is what Crabtree ran in SS

The real play was more like

In SS he just ran a fade. In the real play he engaged Jimmy Smith. In the SS he just ran his route. WHich again is why I'm still to this day cool with the no call and I don't think it's catchable.

That based on Crabtree's ability he would have been able to get to that ball more often than not if he wasn't held.

But it didn't prove that. As I said, they assume an awful lot and use a recreation of the event in totally different circumstances. I won't deny he would have obviously had a better shot. Not really sure how "catchable" that ball was though. And this video didn't really do anything to change that.

No I'm really not

Watch the replay doesn't look a thing like SS play.

SS had him basically running a yard or 2 then his fade. In real life Jimmy Smith had inside technique, Crabtree ran INTO Smith so he could push off. If Crabtree ran the same route as he did in SS there wouldn't have been a hold because Smith couldn't have touched him.

OPINION ALERT!!!!

I'll go with sports science that does this for a living with advances technology to back up their statements as opposed to your knowledge based off an eagles practice.
