REAL FOOTBALL Thread

As opposed to the Redskins that lost their QB plus half the starting defense?

Yes, Skins are missing like 10 guys, 2 outs, 7 IRs 1 PUP. Falcons are missing 11 guys, 1 out, 8 IRs, 2 PUPs, 5 of the Falcons IR players are OL, 3 OTs 2 Centers. 2 are the undisputed leaders of the defense (Moore and Spoon) Skins only big name IR is MeAngelo Hall, Orakpo and RGMe are out, but they're expected back at some point soon IIRC.

Skins suck, Falcons were expected to do better, and lost like 5/8 of their OL who they broke camp with. That's not something you easily overcome. Though the defensive performance has been terrible, won't defend that. They need a few defensive players.

True, the point is that they almost won with that crap starting at QB. Fully healthy team may be different.

Im not saying the Skins are a better team than the Falcons, but I don't think anyone could say "The Falcons are definitely better." Because the Falcons are pretty terrible.

I know what the point was, but it was a bad one. they didn't win with RG 3 the time before that either, and he has regressed/injured himself to a shell of his former self.

Id like our chances a whole lot.

Male or female?

If male I do not care...happens all the time...

Female. Though it's all hearsay. A lawsuit was filed and to my knowledge nothing came of it. I'm sure he probably did do it. He was also 20 yrs old and in a locker room setting. Probably knew the girl and it probably went to far on a prank. Hardly enough to warrant bashing someone over.

I'm sure he probably is. But he certainly doesn't appear to be as much of a dick as most professional athletes. Most who know him or have met him, speak extremely highly of him. He's never had a personal issue with anyone in the NFL that I know of (coaching or player).

I'm sure Chipper can be a dick. And he's pissed off plenty of people. I don't see anyone bashing him.

I'm not bashing him, but I think he's a dick as most pro athletes are. Especially elite level professional athletes. Chipper is a dick too. People don't like Peyton, but his methods are justified to most. He has been a bad teammate before, but he does it as a method to improve and people get that. you aren't competitive enough to be a professional athlete without being a dick.

Something that hasn't been discussed much, but what is everyone's thoughts on this whole relocation business? Reading the past couple of days that the Rams are considered the "favorite" to move to Los Angeles. Earlier this month, there was a survey asking people and businesses in San Antonio if they would support a NFL team. There have been talks the last several weeks about the Raiders moving to the Alamo City.

I don't see why this is going on to be honest. Short of cities bribing teams. Though I think Tampa should move, I know they've had issues filling their stadium in the past. St. Louis kind of makes sense, fair weather football fans. Oakland kind of makes sense if you just look at numbers, but those numbers have to use with years of sucking. Oakland used to be one of the most feared stadiums to travel to.

Hall and Orakpo are out for the year.

Hall? Lol. I thought you meant someone good.

Hall is a good corner, Im not sure what happened with him in Atlanta.

Right now the Skins are without 5 of the 11 starters on defense; 6 if you count the nickel corner who typically plays starter snaps.

Also the QB is the one position you typically can't lose and expect to be anywhere close to your potential.

Except that COusins played better than RGMe did to start this season, or than RGMe did last year. Not saying he's long term better, just pointing out that based on what RGMe has done on the field the last 15 games, they haven't really lost that much.

I would take a lateral move at QB and 5 defensive starters (3 of which no ones heard of) over all your centers that broke camp and all but one OT who was supposed to break camp getting hurt on top of your 2 defensive leaders. Orakpo is a big blow, but the Falcons lost Spoon and Moore, that's worse than Orakpo and MeAngelo.

And Hall was a great corner for a bit, til he started thinking he was Deion Sanders, then he let his mental game slip. He still sucks pretty hard.

Cousins is sitting at -0.8 DVOA, last 2 seasons RGMe has been at -13.1 and -22.9 respectively. Just because he pads stats in blowouts doesn't mean he's better.

That stat is obviously a joke. Do interceptions not count?

DVOA says Matt Stafford is 29th best QB. Russell Wilson-25, Cousins 20. Alex Smith- 9. Matt Ryan 10, Flacco 5.

RG3 has higher yards per attempt, less interceptions (lol, Cousins has 19 in only 407 passing attempts), much higher QBR, Passer Rating, more rushing yards, etc. etc.

That's if you include RGMe's rookie season, which isn't in his last 15 games. last 2 years.

RGMe 61.5 comp% 3.2 TD% 2.4 INT% 5.85 NY/A

Cousings last yeards 57.7 Comp% 3.9 TD% 4.5 INT% 6.62 NY/A

So he throws more picks but more TDs and more net yards per attempt. And that doesn't factor in down and distance, opponent, etc. like DVOA does.

And you think Stafford and Wilson have been good? And Flacco has been pretty fantastic this year. DVOA isn't a ranking stat for starting QBs as anyone who throws a pass qualifies for DVOA so guys who throw less can have a better rate stat but contribute more offensively because they throw more. WE've had this argument. You used to use DYAR. If you prefer we can look at Total QBR which has RGMe at 36.2 this year and Cousins at 46.9. Losing RGMe lately hasn't been a problem. Sure if he was playing like he did his rookie year then you'd have a point that it's a big miss, but he's not been good since his rookie season.
