Geez, the reports are now coming through on Bowman. I'd just rest him and have him come back 100% for next year.

Then there is this on Borland:

Among linebackers with at least 25 percent of total snaps, Borland leads the NFL in run stop percentage, is 5th in tackling efficiency and is No. 24 of 51 in pass rush productivity.

I think this is partially why Willis is done for the season. Granted Borland isnt Patrick Willis, but he has filled in admirably. Lynch has also been solid although I expected him to get a couple more sacks, but hey he's done his job.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis insists he hasn't lost faith in Andy Dalton following his disastrous Week 10 performance.
According to Pro Football Reference, Dalton's 2.0 QB rating against the Browns was the worst by any quarterback with at least 30 pass attempts since 1983. "Andy’s teammates had a lot to do with that rough game," Lewis said. "To the naked eye, it looks like it’s the quarterback’s issues, but there were a lot of issues to go around." Lewis is correct that his entire team failed to show up against Cleveland, but Dalton was still heads and shoulders above everyone else as the culprit. Dalton displayed frighteningly-little touch. The regressing quarterback has just eight touchdowns through nine games.

Like whoa

Bowman will not play this season. This is the latest report and it's probably 100 percent true.

Can't remember any team suffering this many injuries over the course of a season.

2 lbs? I can't think of anyone else?

Niners have 11 guys on PUP or IR. 4 starters (Willis, Bowman, Dorsey, and Kilgore) and 2 rotational players (Cook and Hunter) Falcons have 10 guys on PUP or IR, including 4 starters (Baker, Hawley, Witherspoon, and Moore) and all their OL depth (Johnson, Holmes, and Konz) it's a cointoss between those 2, Niners have lost better players, Falcons have lost more players at 1 area of the team which JMO is almost always more devastating.

Losing all-pro players is almost always more devasting.

Almost always yes, Bowman is a huge loss, Willis is old and has to consider the risk of an old player getting hurt.

Willis is a fantastic player. Still a top 5 linebacker in football and the unquestioned leader of not only the defense but the team. You are a lunatic if you don't think that Willis is the single biggest loss the 49ers have had to and will have to endure for this season.

It doesn't look as bad because of the depth but that doesn't diminish the fact that we just lost the heart and soul of the football team.

Bowman is a bigger loss for sure. Sucks losing Willis that's for sure, but Bowman is worse for sure.

And the Falcons had the same issue when they lost Spoon and Moore, their best defensive players aside from Trufant and the leaders of the defense.

Bowman is a great great player but he also has always played aside Willis his whole career. Willis was dominant since he first step foot into the league. That guy is our best defensive palyer outside of a motivated Aldon Smith.

Falcons are missing some key guys sure but SF is missing stars.

Willis i think missed 5 games prior to this year, he's been very durable.

I wonder with the emergence of Borland they consider trading him for cap relief.

Lots of guys are pictures of health before getting hurt. Look at Chipper Jones. Willis is coming close to 30 which is old in the NFL unless you're a QB. Even the insane Ray Lewis showed signs of heavy regression at 30. And he's an alltime great.
