He's pretty horrible....situation in Minny isn't much better with no AP and Teddy seems to be doing just fine.

Teddy's better than Bortles.

Even still, i dont know why you're bashing him, its not like he was Andrew Luck.

In his rookie year, im not gonna judge him.

No idea, Zito was on his nuts, other people loved him too. I assume it was because of the stupid pre-draft hype machine

I laughed at him going top 3

Wasn't on his nuts, said I'd take him or Teddy first, and said he would go top 5 for sure. WHich is why I was sure Matthews or Mack would fall to Atlanta. Was hardly on his nuts.

Yes, he's not good right now. He's a rookie QB in a terrible organization. The Vikings have a better team than the Jags do taking the QBs out, and it isn't close. Teddy wouldn't be much better on the Jags than Bortles has been. Note: I like Bridgewater better long-term, I'm just saying I don't think we can bury Bortles completely.

Wow. RT@MikeJonesWaPo: Gruden says it's important to get a lead so griffin doesn't have to do a lot of dropback passing and defense reading.

Been covering this league 25 years. Can't remember a head coach publicly talking about a QB the way Gruden does RG3.

There are several common threads among all the decent, good and great head coaches in NFL history. Then there is everything Jay Gruden does.

Gruden tryna just get fired?
RG3 is certainly not the type of guy that would take the hard truth well.

What do people really expect out of Bortles in his rookie season? He has a few players around him, but going forward they need to protect him better and find a running game. He has some good moments and a ton of bad ones.

He has a bunch of young WRs, no run game except for a slight spark from Robinson for a few games, no line, and a terrible defense.

The Jaguars defense actually wasn't terrible..pretty good defensive line too. Nonetheless he needs a lot of help around him. Same can be said for every single quarterback in the league. People need to wait a couple years before throwing the bust tag out there.

They've been pretty bad.

Its funny that a reporter can make up a quote and have it make national headlines. Do hope Gruden gets fired though.

Denard averages 4.3 a carry, Hurns had big games with Henne at QB, Shorts was coming off 2 pretty good seasons, Lee was a top draft pick. It's not like the Jags have zero talent on O, their D is average in pass and bottom 10 in run. They should have dumped Toby long before they did but that mostly killed Henne. Also not saying Teddy would win 9 games with Jax but Bortles looks lost and lost his mechanics completely.

Bortles had a horrible season and isn't close to being ready to be a NFL QB but people freaked out and started praising him after the SD and TN games......and then reality set in.

I need to go watch Bortles on coaches film. I don't think I've commented on him, but I liked him at CF. I'm not impressed at all with Teddy.

Jax has some potential weapons, but they are almost all young and have been injured much of the year.

He looked good in those 2 games but after that everything went to ****, including his mechanics and pocket awareness. He could still be good but he shouldn't be starting games right now, unless you want to risk him going to **** permanently like David Carr.

Teddy on the other hand, has gotten better as the year has gone on. He looked like crap his first few games but he has progressed throughout the year and has excellent pocket awareness/presence.

Dude, Denard had a couple of big games, but it was after Bortles had been starting for a bit and he is now gone for the year. You cited their talent on O, which is, as I said, all young. And I don't know what metric chop2chip is using, but yes their offensive line is terrible.

I completely agree that he should not be starting right now. I'm not crowning him anything and never have. He's not a good NFL QB right now. Pretty much any QB would struggle in that situation right now.
