I'm excited for week 1. Hopefully the Falcons start week 1 off with a bang. Don't even care if my sister whoops my ass in fantasy (she has Ryan, Roddy, and Tony) as long as the Falcons walk away with a W it'll be a good day.
Its odd to say it but I think this is as close to a must win for the Falcons as it gets for a week 1 game. They do not want to give the Saints any ideas that they can still win the division.
Hardly a must win for Atlanta. If they win they'll be in the drivers seat that's for sure but Atlanta lost at NO last year and cakewalked with the division. As long as Atlanta is at least 3-3 in the division and no one in the division steam rolls it they have as good of a shot as anyone. Atlanta's must win games are their tough hosting games, New England, Seattle and Washington. If they beat those 3 there's no reason they shouldn't be at worst a 10-6 team. I would say it's more pressure on New Orleans than anything else as they have to shake off the fear of last year. A defeat at home could send them into a bad mental place.
A win for NO can get them going for the whole year and potentially get home field advantage over the Falconsin the playoffs. The Falcons need home field advantage IMO to win. They need to beat the Saints today. I doubt the Falcons are going to beat all of those three teams that you listed. Hopefully they beat Seattle though.
I disagree on the Falcons needing homefield. It certainly will help but Ryan is what the Falcons need. If Ryan plays like he played last post season and anyone else on the team be it the defense or running game steps up they'll be a force come the playoffs. I'm hoping getting rid of one of the worst cover corners in the NFL last season will help the Falcons out. Also their LBs need to bump their game up. After a big 2011 both Spoon and Nicholas struggled. If they bounce back, and the DL stays somewhat healthy Atlanta could have a surprisingly good defense. Obviously not Niners, Seachickens, or Bears good but not just slightly above average like last year.

I agree. I hate the saints run game. They haven't been able to run in short yardage since deuce. But its atleast nice to have a coach with the balls to go for it on 4th. Last year they wouldn't go for it on 4th unless it was last 2 minutes of the game.
