REAL FOOTBALL Thread

I have to wonder if this means Sanu is cut. Save 4 million off the cap right now to give some flexibility.

Falcons reallllllllly need more talent at WR to free Julio up for touchdowns.

Daron Payne was the DT the Falcons needed. I don’t care much for Bryant. Ridley fills a huge need for the team that’s masked by Julio’s greatness.

I do not like that move by the Saints.

Seems like the move in aggregate (trade+pick) is being almost universally panned, so what’s the logic that defends it? It seems like a lot to give up for a player, even if at a position of need, who profiles as more high-ceiling prospect than instant-impact player.

Seeing a lot of negative reaction from Cowboys Fans about Vander Esch. However, many of those same fans probably booed when Zack Martin was picked instead of Johnny Manziel.

What did you think? I liked the pick, as long as he's healthy which he seems to be. It's good to see the Cowboys concentrate on defense and long as it isn't somebody called "Taco". I heard the player the Cowboys brass thought LVE reminded them of was Urlacher. If he evens gets within seeing distance of how good that guy was this will be a great pick. Now for an OG, a WR, a FS to go along with Xavier Woods, preferably one is ISN'T named Earl Thomas.

What is your take?

Really hate the Saints trading a future first round pick. I like the player though. Really exciting to have so much talent on defense.

I wonder if the Falcons selection was influenced by the Saints improving secondary. Lattimore might be the best CB in the game these next few years.

I mean I'd like to have a sick WR corps. But I think Julio/Ridley/Hardy is good enough.

I just don’t understand the point in cutting Sana to free up cap space when renegotiating Ryan’s deal accomplishes that plenty. Sanu is really good in his role in the offense.

Our WR Corp this season is going to be crazy. This offense has no business not being a top five unit this season.

I'm sure it has more to do with Sanu being older, Julio being older and having injury issues for a lot of his career, and just wantign to bet all on black. Sometimes you make big gambles. Falcons want that explosive offense they had 2 years ago and having a WR corps that no one can comfortably cover will go a long way. If the OL steps their game up the Falcons will have a passing offense that will have teams preparing to limit the damage rather than stop them.

I mean I'm not for it. Sanu fits a very important role as the big man. I would lvoe to see how everything shakes out. I think given Freeman's age and contract situation Falcons may be going for broke, at least offensively.

I think we also need to address the elephant in the room which is that we are in the last few seasons of Julio’s prime. The more help we get him the longer we can extend his prime.

First 3 picks for Falcons were great. All positions of need, all great value. Arguably getting the best player on the board late in round 1 and 2 and getting them at skill positions of need.
